Unmatched Performance

The SteelSeries Rival Optical Mouse reigns over the competition thanks to a cutting edge optical sensor, newly developed switches engineered by SteelSeries, and a suite of tweaks to give you the edge over your rivals.

Unrivaled Design

Rival’s shape was molded from some of the most iconic gaming mice of the past. The right-handed orientation, a raised back end, and sleek contours ensure a comfortable fit. Soft-touch paint offers a matte finish while still feeling incredibly smooth. The anti-sweat coating helps to maintain great contact even during intense gaming sessions. The rubber grips are not a sticker, but direct injected molded rubber for better control and grip. We also engineered Rival with ergonomic button position and size so clicks and movements feel natural, quick, and don’t take away from gameplay.

Endless Customization

Rival is incredibly customizable with 16.8 million color, 2-zone illumination, a 3D printable nameplate for individuality, and SteelSeries Engine 3 for finely-tuned performance adjustments.

Advanced Optical Sensor

At the heart of Rival is the Avago ADNS 3310 optical sensor. The 3310 promises zero hardware acceleration, offering true 1:1 tracking and precise movements no matter how fast things get during the heat of battle. The CPI is best-in-class with adjustments from 50 to 6500.

SteelSeries Switches

SteelSeries engineered switches have a life span of over 30 million clicks and are the high-speed conduit between the sensor and mouse clicks. The audible mouse click is subtle, while delivering quick, tactile responsiveness.

Fine Tuning

When it’s time to get competitive you can really dial-in your settings thanks to SteelSeries Engine 3. Adjustable CPI, programmable buttons, polling rate, angle snapping, acceleration, and deceleration are among the customizations that will make the mouse perform as you see fit.

SteelSeries Engine 3

Our new software suite is where you take control of the mouse and its many features. This new version of SteelSeries Engine gives users a unified application to control all of their SteelSeries products, offers cross platform support, and will feature a cloud syncing system to make sure you always have your Rival settings.

Brilliant Illumination

Rival features two independent lighting zones that are capable of 16.8 million colors. Colors can be adjusted in each zone, per specific profile, game, or application. Four brightness levels and three lighting effects to choose from—Steady, ColorShift, and Breathe—will help make Rival your own.

3D Printable Nameplate

Rival comes with 2 interchangeable nameplates. To switch them out, simply pry the existing one off at either end (a fingernail or the tip of a pen can do the trick) and pop the other one in. If you are handy with a 3D printer, you could even make your own nameplate.

I know that sounds like a stretch, but I've been playing pc games for about 15 years now. 10 of those years were spent on the Counter Strike and Half Life franchises with some various fun shooters in between (Doom, Quake, Day of Defeat, CoD, Battlefield, Titanfall Beta) Over that time I've used Logitech mice: 510, 518, G5, G700s, Razer: Death Adder, Imperator and Imperator2012. Broken most of them to the point of no return, mostly keyswitch death. Pretty great mice, but seriously nothing tracks like this!

Combined with a Steelseries QCK+ Mousepad, Goliathus, etc; this mouse glides like its on Astroglide. Minus the greasy, messy side effects. My accuracy and hit rate increased by a significant margin in my first game of CS:GO using this mouse.

Now I use a Palm grip play style, and sometimes alternate for a claw for precision shots. This particular mouse forces your hand more into a claw grip style, which can be uncomfortable at first. Its definitely a mouse for larger-handed people. Small hands will probably find it overwhelming.

There's a reason the FPS greats use this mouse. (Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund, Jonatan "Devilwalk" Lundberg, etc)

I am very pleased so far with the SteelSeries Rival mouse thus far. I have been using the Razer DA 2103 predominately for the past 6 months or so and recently made the switch to the RIVAL. In my honest opinion this is the best mouse that I have used throughout my history of PC gaming! And I have used Logitech, CM Storm, Razer, and other SteelSeries gaming mice in the past!

Build Quality is superior, I am thoroughly pleased with the finish texture on the RIVAL. It feels like a quality non-slip surface opposed to a "plasticy" shiny fingerprint/smudge magnet. The rubberized grips on both sides of the RIVAL are also a bonus. The only other mouse that I have used that have equally superior side grips would be the CM Storm Xornet. On the bottom of the mouse you will find 4 nicely sized mouse feet giving it perfect drag. I find the RIVAL glides/feels the best for me on the SteelSeries QCK+ Heavy Mouse Pad. The RMB/LMB are solid, tactile, and are a little more silent compared to the DA 2013. I don't usually macro or keybind the left side mouse buttons (3 and 4) anymore so I really can't comment on their functionality. However I feel that they are spaced well and line up with the thumb allowing for less thumb travel as possible. I comment on this because I have used a few mice in the past (G 500) where my thumb really had to extend back to click on the "back" side mouse button. I absolutely love the scroll wheel on the RIVAL. It is rigid and stiff, allowing for accurate and "clicky" scrolling. The CPI selector is well placed on the mouse body for quick on-the-fly CPI toggles. The only major let down on build design would be the mouse cable. The plastic mouse cable is probably why I rated this mouse 4 out of 5 stars. If it was braided....5 stars for sure!

There is one very specific reason why I love the SteelSeries Rival mouse, and I feel compelled to share it with you all.

Before I begin, I must divulge a little history. Now as most of you already know, the microsoft intellimouse explorer 3.0 mouse stopped production at the end of 2012 and was replaced with another mouse called the Microsoft Comfort Mouse, which has a middle click delay bug in the driver which makes it essentially useless to any gamer.

It was a huge blow to alot of gamers that got thier start in the early 2000's because that was when the intellimouse was in full production and was being hailed as a legendary mouse. There used to be a popular website called GotFragged that proclaimed the intellimouse as the greatest mouse ever made. So there were alot of gamers who became accustomed to that mouse and preferred it's feel and tracking more than anything else. But they don't make them anymore, and when those old intellimice die, there will be no new replacements!

So when my current intellimouse died, I had to find a replacement that wasn't simply another intellimouse. Because they don't make those anymore for some foolish reason. I certainly would have bought one again if they had...

So a long story short, I searched high and low, far and wide, and eventually found my way to the SteelSeries Rival mouse. Now let me tell you this thing looks and feels almost exactly like the microsoft intellimouse explorer 3.0 so if you are somebody who has a strong emotional attachment to that shape then this is the mouse for you. Period.

I'm serious, it feels almost exactly like functionality of the intellimouse. The tracking is solid, the feel is very good, the rubber grips on both sides are a very welcome touch.

I've been gaming for 15 years mostly FPS games and have tried more mice than you could ever imagine, I scared to even think of the money I've spent! Lol! But I picked this one up a few weeks back and I can finally stop looking for that "PERFECT" mouse because this is it!!! Yes I have bigger hands ! Love this mouse!
