Inexpensive and Functional,

The title summarizes my feeling. I bought this stone holder for a ridiculous low price of ~$15. It gets the job done.
I used to simply put my sharpening stones on top a wet towel, but after more than a few months, I decided to get a stone holder. This stone holder has three advantages over a wet towel. 1) It grabs the counter more secure than a wet towel, 2) It provides much better knuckle clearance. 3) It makes less of a wet mess on my counter. As the picture shows, you can put the sharpening stones between the two grips and tighten them with the two nuts. However, it is very slow to loosen and to tighten the nuts. Most people I know simply just slap the holder together. I do this as well. Sharpening stones are elevated 7/8" above the flat surface. It is 2-3/4" wide and 11-1/4" long. It can hold a stone as long as 8-3/4" without taking off the nuts.

Bought this after using one I bought from Woodcraft. The one from Woodcraft is a little better. The item straight out of the box was tough to use. I had to use pliers/wrench to get the screws to budge whereas the one from woodcraft I could use my hands to adjust. It's a small nuisance and I'm sure after use the screws will be easier to adjust. If I had to buy again I would go back to the Woodcraft version for about the same price.

A must have for Shapton waterstones,

The Shapton water stones that I own come in convenient plastic cases that are intended to be used as bases for the stones. However, the rubber feet on the bottom of the cases are so small that, once they become wet, it is too easy to move the case when sliding a blade back and forth along the edge of the stone. The Steelex Sharpening stone holder takes care of the problem at a reasonable cost.

This thing is adjustable so I can fit all the different stones i use. Holds the stones in place so they don't move. Not much more to say about it...it just works!

Not flat,

This review is from: Steelex D1091 Sharpening Stone Holder (Tools & Home Improvement)
The only problem with the stone holder, or at least the one that was sent to me is that the pad in the middle is a little proud of the other two on the bottom, and shy off the stone surface on the top. I have been using it like this so far, but I want to try and flatten it with some sandpaper. One of the nuts also needed some lube to turn freely.

I have seen these go from $15 to $30 and all look alike. Likely same OEM. This is the cheapest and works very well. It's heavy padded rubber, so it stays in place. Fits any stone I have. Worth the investment.

Steelex Stone Holder Well Made And A Big Help,

Sold rubber and steel raises the knife to be sharpened above knuckle-smacking heights and does a terrific job in holding the stone steady. No, it might not be the cat's meow for woodworkers, but for the millions of knife sharpeners it's a Godsend.
Eventually I'll wind up with half a dozen of these baby's with a different grit stone in each holder.

Very straight-forward: tighten the screws to clamp in a waterstone. It serves its purpose well.
