5.0 out of 5 stars Steiner Peregrine Excellent Quality Binoculars
Steiner Peregrine binoculars have a visually striking design that should strongly appeal to any birder. They are slim and light, and their ribbed rubber armor, black and gold falcon head logo, and soft wrap-around eyecups are very stylish.

Excellent optics at a good price but terribly flawed in a minor but important way. The eye cups almost immediately fray at the crease and tear if used by glasses wearers and non glasses wearers. I have been though four pairs that I received free and all are useless. How disappointing. How hard can it be to deal with this bad product design problem? It is impossible to...

Steiner Peregrine binoculars have a visually striking design that should strongly appeal to any birder. They are slim and light, and their ribbed rubber armor, black and gold falcon head logo, and soft wrap-around eyecups are very stylish.

In my opinion these binoculars were particularly bright, clear, and showed strikingly vivid colors. The 8x have 367-foot field of view at 1000 yards.

Because they are so light they cause very little fatigue, even after a long day in the field. Their slender barrels make them very easy to handle and a likely favorite for birders, especially those with smaller hands. The rubber armor has raised molded thumb rests.

They come with a nice, padded, heavy cordura case and a padded strap that has snap-in connections to attach to the sides of the barrels for easy removal.

It is impossible to contact Steiner Co. in Germany you can only reach distributors. They just pretend to be amazed that there is a problem.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent binoculars!, January 13, 2011
This review is from: Steiner 8x42 Peregrine Binocular (Electronics)
Last month I purchased a pair of these binoculars and I have been very impressed. They are spectacular! You get what you pay for. (If you look around, you can find these for less than half of their retail price.) While these cost a little more, several things make these worth the money. 1) They are crystal clear. These Steiner 8x42's easily outperform my bushnell 12x50's (as they should). You don't need the extra maginification and size when you have this level of clarity. I have a pair of 8x Nikon Travelites as well (also good binocular) but these Steiners are much clearer. 2) The color integrity is perfect. My wife is excited to use these for birding because they do not wash out the colors like a low to mid level binocular will. 3) They are exceptional in low light situations. I use these for hunting and they are able to grab alot of light at dawn, dusk, on cloudy days and in shadows (like looking from a sunny meadow into the shaded timber). 4) They are easy on the eyes. These do not hurt my eyes or give me headaches. Some lower quality binoculars will strain your eyes if you look through them for more than like 30 seconds. With these, your eyes don't have to work as hard so you can look through them for long periods of time without the eye strain.

In a sentance, these binoculars increase your viewing potential, they have allowed me to see what I could not see before.
I highly recommend them!

These are wonderful binoculars!

Bright, crystal clear images with exceptional color rendition. The colors have to be seen to be believed. The focus is a rapid close-focus system with left hand diopter adjustment. The precise central focus wheel will go from a close focus of less than 6 feet out to infinity in just one full turn.

The steiner peregrine binoculars are lightweight too. A great purchase for anyone who appreciates excellent quality optics.
