5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful watch
This watch is beautiful and keeps great time. Very slim so that no problems with shirt cuffs. Sleek, stylish, and functional. The bands that come with the watch look much more expensive than they really are. In fact, the best thing about Steinhausen watches is that they have such low cost for the quality. 2.0 out of 5 stars Listing Error
The big feature listed for this watch is how thin it is. The listing and magazine advertising claims a thickness of "less than two millimeters". This may be true of the movement only but the fully cased watch has a center thickness of 6.35mm or 1/4" per my digital calipers measurement. The case tapers considerably but even at the edge of the case I measure a thickness...

This watch is beautiful and keeps great time. Very slim so that no problems with shirt cuffs. Sleek, stylish, and functional. The bands that come with the watch look much more expensive than they really are. In fact, the best thing about Steinhausen watches is that they have such low cost for the quality. Sure, they are made in China, but who cares about that. Just look at the Steinhausen collection and know that they look gorgeous on the wrist. I have three different types of the Steinhausen including this one and the classic gold. All of them look and work great. Thanks Steinhausen.

2.0 out of 5 stars Listing Error, July 20, 2007
The big feature listed for this watch is how thin it is. The listing and magazine advertising claims a thickness of "less than two millimeters". This may be true of the movement only but the fully cased watch has a center thickness of 6.35mm or 1/4" per my digital calipers measurement. The case tapers considerably but even at the edge of the case I measure a thickness of 4.1mm, over twice the advertised value.

Other than that it is an attractive watch but do not expect it to be the wafer thin item advertised. If so you will be disappointed.

On the web one seller I found lists it as 5mm thick. This is closer to correct but still exaggerated based on my measurement.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very nice dress watch., November 20, 2007

I ordered this watch and when it came it looked nice in it's box. I like the two bands that come with it and they are long enough to fit my wrist unlike some that are too small and supposidly sized for men. This is a plus because anyone can wear it. Looks great as a dress watch which I'll probably use it mostly for that. A second hand would be better as the "tachyometer" around the face can't be used. It is thin, but not as thin as they say in the promos, but it still is thinner than most of my other watches. I like big watches, but this one is going to look great as a dress watch as stated befor. The glow in the dark hands work well for me. Buy it and you'll enjoy it's good and clean looks and feel on your wrist. You may not even know it's there. Looks like a great gift idea for anyone who likes watches.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Nice, November 3, 2010

The watch is very nice. I wanted simple dress watch with roman numerals. Its easy to read (EXCEPT THE DATE WHICH IS MUCH TO SMALL FOR MY EYES to read). It comes in a great container with an extra black band which is nice but of little value other than the "gee wiz" factor.

One thing that makes no sense is the tachymeter on the outer ring. The watch doesn't have a second hand or a stop/start function so this is just ridiculous.

This is a absolutely gorgeous watch and the thinnest by far that I have ever owned. Shirts with the tighest cuffs will allow this watch to easily slide underneath. The watch is extremely attractive with the ivory colored face, and the hands are easily seen in contrast. The roman numerals on the face are large and easily read. Attractive, and functional. That's what I want in a watch. I recommend this one.

4.0 out of 5 stars good product but a little deception in advertising., April 10, 2007

This watch is advertised as a SWISS Quartz watch, in all the research I read I found only reference to Swiss technology, know how, design prizes. To my surprise when it arrived I found it made in China. Since this was a gift for a Swiss friend I called the company. They too were surprised at the descrepancy between adverts and product, but assured me if it was not suitable, it could be returned and I would get a full refund.

It turned out to be a fine watch, light as a feather, as thin as promised and keeps good time. The watch face is attractive and easy to read. The date is not easy to see. It comes with two nice looking bands. My Swiss friend decided to keep it and likes it very much. In fact wears it daily even though he has a classic old Rolex. The Steinhausen Dunn Horitzon Swiss Quartz Watch is a value. (I guess only by being made in China could it be so affordable!)

1.0 out of 5 stars Amazon not authorized dealer and sent me a watch that doesn't work, May 17, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Steinhausen Men's TW493G Dunn Horitzon Thin Swiss Quartz Gold Watch (Watch)
I got this watch just before going on vacation. It sat on my desk for a week and then I went on vacation. When I got back, I wore it and noticed it lost about five minutes every hour. I figured it must be the battery since it is a brand new watch, so in a couple of days I stopped by a watch repair and they said the battery was fine, that it was just a watch with "contact problems" and that I should send it back. The next day I call Amazon and they say it is 35 days past the date that I bought this watch and that they have a 30-day return policy. They said I had to get a replacement from Steinhausen. When I contacted Steinhausen they said I had to package it up and ship it to them and then pay for return shipping. They said that if Amazon was an authorized dealer that they would have picked up the shipping expenses. Bottom line is Amazon sent me a brand new watch that didn't work and now I have to package the darn thing up, pay postage to send it back to Steinhausen and then pay postage to have it returned to me because I missed the Amazon cutoff date by five days. They aren't even an authorized dealer of this product, so I don't know how they can sell it. This was a ripoff.

4.0 out of 5 stars Watch handsome, service excellent., August 20, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Steinhausen Men's TW493G Dunn Horitzon Thin Swiss Quartz Gold Watch (Watch)
Pros: The watch has excellent accuracy. Better than a second per ten days. It has a handsome face and a good leather strap. It is quite thin (though not the thinnest I use). The gold plated case is beautiful. Service in the delivery of the watch was quick and perfect.

Cons: There is no second hand. The movement does not have yearly cognizance, i.e. it has to be reset at least
once every two months to show the right date and does not show the day of the week or the month. The size
of the date font is so small that I cannot read it without a magnifier. The illumination is ordinary light-activated with quick decay.

I liked the watch except its not as thin as it would appear in the photos - its thin at the edges but the center has a bulge.
Its nice to look at and good value for the money.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worlds fattest thin Swiss watch made in China, November 29, 2007

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The vendor of this watch, Timecove, graciously gave me a prompt and complete refund (not including shipping) when I returned this watch. I don't intend to trash the vendor, the problem is the watch.

Steinhausen actually claims this is the "thinnest watch ever made", which is a bald faced lie. What is truly insulting is the photograph (see the top of this page) showing the watch pinched between somebodies fingers. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain. The pinched fingers conceal the fact that the watch is much, much thicker in the middle than it is around the edges. This is a bald faced attempt by the manufacturer to bamboozle it's customers.

In addition, the magazine ad for this watch by Steinhausen promises a lifetime guarantee on the Swiss made movement. The watch ships with a 1 year guarantee, and there is no indication that the lifetime guarantee is any more valid than the claim to being the thinnest watch ever made. The movement is Swiss, but the watch is made in China.

Based on the lack of respect Steinhausen displays for it's customers, I returned this watch and will look for something else, possibly a Seiko. The watch is extremely good looking, and comes in a fancy box along with all sorts of extras and gim-cracks. I simply don't believe this watch will outlast a Timex, and $150 is way too high a price for a watch that can't be trusted. Once again, I have no complaint with the vendor, Timecove, or with Amazon.
