Stella Flame has always been involved in the design world. As a young girl, her mother Hanka’s deep appreciation for fine design and superb craftsmanship made every occasion an opportunity to celebrate and juxtapose texture, color and line. For Stella, moving from one design arena to another became as natural as breathing.
Working on 47th Street for a gem dealer and then at Barney’s in the Antique and Fine Jewelry Departments while earning her BA and MA at New York University, Stella came away with a truly priceless education and further refinement of her unique design perspective.
As a knitwear designer, Stella took advantage of what she had learned from her mother - take every opportunity to showcase fine composition and always be aware of color and what it can impart to the beholder. Stella’s eponymous knitwear collection was sold in major department stores and boutiques across the US and Stella was ultimately named “One of the 10 Best Knitwear Designers...” by Esquire Magazine. Her knitwear patterns and designs have been published in Vogue Knitting and her men’s and women’s ready to wear has been featured in WWD, DNR, the New York Times, New York Magazine...
After attending the New York School of Interior Design, Stella concentrated her efforts on residential renovation and design and went on to create many NY Region “Residential Gems” until a skiing accident left her wheelchair bound for nearly a year.
It was during that period that Stella began to revisit her love of jewelry and its role in adorning the contemporary woman. By focusing on gemstones and their relationship to silver and gold Stella began to layer gems and combine precious metals in a style she describes as “Bucellati meets Constantinople”. A chance meeting during a trip to Istanbul led to the development of what would ultimately become Stella Flame Fine Jewelry.
Stella’s unique design sensibility and her love and knowledge of Mediterranean culture and art impart Stella Flame Fine Jewelry with a contemporary and fresh twist within a historical context. The Stella Flame Fine Jewelry Collection is represented by Fragments and is sold in Fine Jewelry Stores and Specialty Shops in the United States, Puerto Rico and Europe. Her designs have been featured in WWD, W, In Style, In Style Weddings, Lucky, Accessories Magazine...

STELLA FLAME FINE JEWELRY COLLECTION - INSPIRATION
Stella Flame Fine Jewelry draws its inspiration from both the splendors of the Byzantine and early Ottoman Empires and the vibrant colors, sounds, and flavors of modern day Turkey and the Mediterranean. In a small atelier near the Bosphorous, Istanbul’s master jewelers hand craft each Stella Flame ring, bracelet, earring and pendant using techniques that are centuries old.
Faceted and cabochon gemstones set in Stella’s trademark combination of blackened Sterling Silver and pure 24K Gold are combined with lyrical filigree, abundant granulation, pointed and reverse set crowns, brilliant cuts and unexpected color stories that Stella combines to reinterpret ancient motifs for the 21st century.
Stella Flame Fine Jewelry strives to utilize Gold and Sterling Silver whenever possible and to buy fair-trade gemstones that are conflict free. The Stella Flame Fine Jewelry Collection offers precision craftsmanship, precious metals and dramatic gemstone color ways at attractive and competitive price points for today’s luxury market.
