We bought this for our daugher when she was 1 1/2 years old. She is now almost 3 and still LOVES it. She sleeps in it & plays on it. We even read to her. The bed is very sturdy. Wish we bought something like this for my son when he was small instead of a big-boy bed (maybe then he would sleep in HIS own bed like her). Right now we still have it set up as a toddler bed (with her crib mattress). It converts to a full twin size bed when she is ready for one. We have it decorated with Disney Princess toddler bedding. It's VERY CUTE! One of our best buys so far.

I bought this bed for my daughter in Jan. She was 14 months old. I think she was too young for it then. She just started sleeping in it throughout the nights. I just tell her to get in her big girl bed and she gets in it. WE did have to get a step stool for her but that was no biggie. Now we can't get her out of her room because all she does is play on the bed.I did have a problem putting it together. It took me about an hour to get the headboard together. Then my sister gave me the idea to use WD40 on the peices. After that it took me 20 minutes to get the rest of it together. The one thing i love about this is that it converts to a twin size bed. IT saves me a lot of money because I am moving to Germany this summer and hate to see how much I would pay for another bed. I would recommend saving your money and going to the store and picking it up. Just make sure you have a full size truck. because the box is BIG!!! If you want to see a picture of how big the box is just email me and I will show you. kmcf32902@yahoo.com

BRAVO Step2!,

I purchased this bed and was surprised that the converter kit is included. It took approx. 40mins to put together. Pieces slide in easier with liquid soap. A power drill is advisable. Very easy instructions. It is a beautiful bed, and the conversion kit looks very easy to assemble. You are supplied 4 pieces (which are marked A or B) to add to the ends of the bed to lengthen the bed, and then add the twin mattress. It is quite a deal, for the price. You get both the enjoyment of the toddler bed, and then save $ on the price of a twin bed. My daughter (13mos)uses the bed to play in as well as sleep in. I have another toddler bed, which I had to use a siderail for, but am so much happier with this one. The siderails are high enough that I don't have to worry about her falling out even though she rolls alot.
If you purchase this bed from the store, take pieces out of the box and you should be able to fit it in a minivan, van, or SUV. Hope this review helps you. ***Update*** 07/17/06 Converting the bed into twin size was so easy that my husband was able to do it. (And he usually can't hammer a nail in the wall) It took him approximately 40 mins. Which is 30 minutes in skilled time. Everything required for conversion is supplied except the twin size mattress. (No need to purchase a boxspring.) This is definately a must have. God Bless!

There is nothing on the bed that my daughter just doesn't love!!! My 2 year old is not one for change and it was a smooth transistion. It was very comfortable for me to lay in with her for the first time as well and I am almost 6 feet tall. It is easy for her to climb in and out of and although it is big, it is not intimidating to the little ones. She is even able to sit up and press the button to turn on her own night light!! WE LOVE THE BIG GIRL PRINCESS BEDTwo notes: 1.)BRING A REALLY BIG PICKUP TRUCK THE BOX BARELY FIT IN A SUBURBAN WITH THE SEATS FOLDED DOWN. 2.) ASSEMBLY SEEMED DIFFICULT AT FIRST BECAUSE I COULDN'T GET THE FIRST COUPLE OF PIECES TOGETHER- I CALLED STEP2 THEY SUGGESTED USING A LITTLE DISHSOAP ON THE KNOBS TO MAKE IT EASIER TO SLIDE IN. IT WORKED... KEEP THAT DISHSOAP HANDY- IT WILL SAVE YOU A HEADACHE!

We bought this bed (and conversion kit) for our daughter's 4th birthday. A year later, she absolutely still loves it. It is a real hit every time that friends, cousins, etc. are over to play as they drape a blanket over the rounded archway of the draw bridge and put on a puppet show. The nightlight is great too as we put it on to read bedtime stories. The bed is very durable and comfortable as well. When she spent a night with grandma and grandpa, I actually slept in it---very comfortable. Wish that I would have had one as a child!!!
Based on our great experience with this bed, as our two year old son will be moving into a "big boy bed" soon, we are looking into the Step 2 race car bed for him. As other parents have said, the high sides are great so you don't have to worry about them falling out. The only drawback that I have found is that with the mattress sunken in like it is, changing the sheets, is somewhat of a pain as you have to literally take the mattress out of the bed frame---sort of like changing the sheets on a crib. The only tip for parents that I have is that with the somewhat high price on these beds (including shipping), go with a bed that either holds a twin mattress or has a conversion kit to hold a twin mattress as you will undoubtedly get more use out of it!!

So I have to review to let everyone know I have also had an excellent experience with this bed. My daughter had become completely crib resistant out of the blue. She was spending more time in our bed than in her own room, and we decided it was time to explore other options.
We bought the bed, and while taking apart her crib and assembling this bed she seemed a bit wary. However, tonight she went to bed like an absolutely angel. We read a story by the night light, and she laid down on her pillow, pulled up the blanket and drifted off. No screaming, no freaking out, no throwing anything....such a relaxing experience I do not know what to do with myself. I want to add that my daughter is only 15 months. She is tiny (like 31 inches), and cruises more than walks. I don't feel she is too young for it or too small. She is comfortable so I am. Our assembly went quite well. I would say it took about 30 minutes, and we had no problems with parts or items not fitting. I will say it is a two person job and that a power drill makes it a lot easier. I definitely recommend this great bed!

I had read all of the review several times trying to decide if the bed would be right for my 19 month old daughter. After weeks of trying to decide, I finally purchased the bed. Just as others have stated, this bed is fantastic and perfect for a toddler. My daughter has slept with my husband and I every night until we purchased the bed. She was so excited when my husband came home with the enormous box. The box is huge but it fit in our Tahoe without any trouble. My daughter was our little helper and assisted us putting the bed together. It took us approximately 45 minutes to complete. My daughter loves to play in the bed and sleeps well in it. She rolls around a great deal in her sleep, but the crib mattress fits perfect so that the bed has a "little" ledge that keeps her from rolling out. The bed is a little expensive, but it is well worth the investment since it will convert to a twin. I would suggest this bed to anyone with a princess for a daughter!!!

We bought this as a birthday gift for our three year old, replacing her old, less exciting but nice, toddler bed. She loves it! Assembly was very easy. I did have one issue and that was that I got two of the same pieces of the headboard. Since I bought it from Toys R Us by my house, all I had to do was drive over with the part I did not need to get the correct one. The staff was helpful! As far as getting it home, I really did not have problem. Yes the box is big and after reading the reviews we decided on taking two cars; my Ford Focus ZX5 (a 4 door hatchback) and some rental car my husband had (a compact car). We took the bed out of the box and loaded about 90% of into my car with the back seats folded down and then put the wood and the side pieces in the other car and we got it home alright, plus I imagine it's easier to carry into the house as the pieces are so light but durable. This is a great deal as well, we looked on other sites to see if we could have it shipped, some offered free shipping ..., but want to charge [more] for the conversion kit that should come with it! It is a great deal here but wait for free shipping or pick it up yourself. Either way, go through Toys r Us, it's the best deal and they are a reputable company. I can't wait to see it as a twin bed. We love it and our daughter loves it too!

We bought this for my daughter when she was about 18 mths because she learned to climb out of her crib. After we set it up, my daughter climbed in the bed and wouldnt get out. She would disappear and I would find her nestled up in her new castle bed. It was adorable! We did not pay $300 for this bed as listed online. We went to a local store and paid $189 just last May. It was hard to find, but worth the trouble. Havent had any problems... this bed is sturdy, close to the ground, and goes great with the princess bedding at Babies R Us.

Great bed, problem with packaging,

Daughter is excited about the bed (5 stars for the bed itself), but we didn't love the missing pieces and runaround to get them ( I would give negative stars for the distributor). Package was missing the two middle headboard pieces. Can't put it together without those...We finally get those, and discover we have two LEFT towers. We hope to get that resolved soon so that we can actually put the bed together. When I called customer service, they said this "happens all the time- especially with the beds and kitchens". For $299 I'd like to get all of the pieces, the right pieces, at once.
