5.0 out of 5 stars Firetruck Happy
Bought this for my 16mth old son, He absolutely loves it. Have not had any trouble with it. The only negative things I can say is the sticker for the pretend redlights on top keeps peeling off ( the cop car had real red/blue lights on top) And the second thing is it has no doors so be careful when turning they can and WILL fall out and hit their head on the driveway!Got...

I have the Police car and the kids LOVE it and play with it every day.
I have lots of climbers made by this same company and they have held up for years. 30 years experience in buying childrens toys.

The only negative things I can say is the sticker for the pretend redlights on top keeps peeling off ( the cop car had real red/blue lights on top) And the second thing is it has no doors so be careful when turning they can and WILL fall out and hit their head on the driveway!Got back up and ready to go again. But he just loves it, The price was reasonable, shipping was high, But it was a good investment, we keep it in the garage out of the weather, so it has held together great. So overall I highly recommend this to anyone who wants a ride on Firetruck for their kids, Oh the back seat is great too, he rides in both places. They never get tired of being pushed so be ready for lots of pushing/pulling fun. Works great on concrete,grass,asphalt... Assembly was Very Easy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for Toddlers!!, April 30, 2001

I have toddler twin boys, and this was a Great Gift! No one feels left out with this toy! They are learning to take turns driving and riding! My big 7 year old daughter often sits on the back and pushes with her feet to move the car, while one of my sons enjoy the front view! This is a VERY durable toy...We have had it indoors and outdoors for over a year now, and it is in like new condition! A Must Buy for parents with more than one little one at home!

1.0 out of 5 stars to difficult to use, April 12, 2003

We purchased this for our daughter who saw one in a store that we could not get her out of it. Of course then when we bought it and got it home, the wheels do not turn easily! Even with us having to push her around constantly in it, we have to keep bending over to straighten the wheels.A real waste of money. And very frustrating for her and us!

1.0 out of 5 stars Wheels do not turn, April 23, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Fire Engine for Two (Toy)
We bought this for our 2 year old who loves these ride on toys. Unfortunately we had to return the item because the wheels do not turn without assistance and therefore the child and parent becomes very frustrated very quickly because it does not move around as it should.

My twins are 17 months and they love this firetruck. It is really cute with a place in the back for one of them to sit while the other is driving. It was easy to put together and is very sturdy even with the boys climbing all over it. This is a must for all kids especially for any little future firemen.

2.0 out of 5 stars Wheels need tread, May 17, 2002

I loved the concept of the Fire Engine for Two until I received it. I bought it for my 2 sons for their carpeted playroom in the basement. One of their friends had an older model car for two and I loved it. The difference between the two models makes a huge difference if using it indoors. The older model had tread on the wheels which makes it easy to ride around in -- inside or outside. The newer version just has plastic wheels without tread so if you use it on carpet or grass, the wheels just slide sideways instead of roll. I called Step 2 to see if I could get the wheels replaced but they said there was nothing they could do. My son and his friends love getting into it but find that they can't really get any where and get frustrated.

I really think the construction of this is very poor and when you go to install the roof supports the fasteners that they give you are the kind that once you install them they will never come out. I think the company should have dome some more thought into it. There are diifernt kinds of fasteners that are safe for the kids that can be removed like a nylon screw with a nut. Also the roof support does not sit flush in the hole so when you go and tap the bolt in the hole the pole will shift upwards and you can miss the hole. I even tried to contact the company through their e-mail and also tried to call and no one has called me back. This was a birthday gift that I now have to try to get the roof support secured so it is safe. I will never again buy a step 2 product based on this experience. Also the front wheels they are very hard to turn. I tried to move it with nobody in it and the wheels went where ever they wanted to go except the direction that I was heading.

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed Birthday Boy, November 4, 2002

This toy is adorable and sturdy, however, my son was very frustrated with it when the front wheels did not rotate properly. My husband tried several things to correct the problem and nothing worked. The kids end up pushing the toy with one or both of the front wheels pointing to the sides instead of forward regardless of the floor surface. Needless to say, Mommy and Daddy's gift ended up being a dud.

What could be more enticing than a firetruck to a small child? The only problem is that the four wheels are never pointing in the same direction, and they are too stiff to orient them and go in one direction. From 15 months now to 2 years old, this firetruck is nothing but a frustration and disappointment to him, resulting in much irritation with crying and groans. I've taken it away and bought a simple ride-on from Radio Flyer and we are all much happier.
