4.0 out of 5 stars Swing away
I originally bought the high back swing with the clasps in the front of the swing which were plastic. After 1 summer the plastic clasps broke so I bought this one since I love dolphins and this swing seemed to have good ratings. I do like this swing. My son loves it too. He gets so excited when I place him into it. The only problem I have is when my 1 1/2 year old...

1.0 out of 5 stars horrible swing
I bought this swing for my 2 year old since his little tykes swing was recalled. The age limit for the dolphin swing says from 12 months to 3 years on the website description. Well, my son is 2 and is of average size and cannot even fit a foot into the swing. The little girl next door is 1 1/2 and she barely fits into it. Also getting in and out of it for her was so...

He gets so excited when I place him into it. The only problem I have is when my 1 1/2 year old leans to the side, so does the swing. The rope in the back of the dolphins slides when the baby slides to one side. I keep on having to adjust the straps so the swing doesn't lean over.

Our two-year-old has enjoyed this swing since she was seven months old. It's very durable and safe. The high back and seat belt provide great protection for the infants, yet the swing is still swinging the smaller preschoolers. I never felt uneasy about putting an infant in the swing. Our neighbor is also using this swing for her infant. A great safe toy.

Well, my son is 2 and is of average size and cannot even fit a foot into the swing. The little girl next door is 1 1/2 and she barely fits into it. Also getting in and out of it for her was so uncomfortable and she was screaming. I sent this back and would only recommend it for a small child or a child under 1. I am going to write to STEP2 and suggest they either make the swing bigger or change the age limits.

This is the best swing I've used for both my kids. Unlike other models with a bar that slides up and down the ropes, there's no chance of pinching little legs or the baby wriggling out when you lift the bar because it takes two hands to lift.

This is a great little swing for your little one. This one doesn't fade as easily in the sun as some of the others do. We have "swing" baby in our house and you just can't get him out of his once he's in it. It's just so nice and a very smooth ride too! Pay attention to that age limit, however. This one really cannot take the extra weight of an older child. We also have Step 2's seahorse and it's much better for a child to grow with - being that it holds more weight. Our four-year-old still uses that one!

4.0 out of 5 stars Dolphin swing could use some improvements, January 27, 2003

My daughter loves it, however the holes that their legs and feet go through are very small and you have to take their shoes off to get them in the swing. My daughter is 3 1/2 and only 28 pounds, so it's not that she's a large child. Also the holes that the ropes go through are big enough for bees and wasps to get in. We found we had a huge nest inside our dolphin after a neighbors child got stung while riding in it. Needs to be redesigned so bees and wasps can't get in and bigger holes for feet to go through. Also needs longer ropes.

We are about to put the swing up for child number 3. My oldest is almost 7 and the swing still looks like new! The swing is a good size for a variety of ages and fun shaped. The only problem is the ropes fray within a year leaving splinters in the childs hand. We replaced the rope once and now have simply duct taped (in matching yellow- they offer many colors now) the part of the rope that hands touch.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good swing, bad rope, March 21, 2005

We have had this swing for nearly seven years, and the swing itself has held up in amazing shape. It has been used by my 2 children and my nephew, and will soon be handed back again for more use. The dolphin is terribly cute, very sturdy, and the thing swings quite smoothly. My one complaint has been about the yellow rope. After one year in the midwest weather (stored for the winter, mind you), the rope started to fray. Not in a way that would compromise the safety (it's not unraveling), but the rope developed all of these little sharp spines that made it feel like you were holding on to a thorny rose. Duct tape to the rescue! Yep, we taped it up, and now it is not very pretty but smooth for little hands to grasp and functional.

We bought this for our grandson's first birthday and it was and still is his favorite gift. My daughter puts him in it nearly everyday. He will swing for as long as she will let him, and this is a child who is not easily entertained for longer than a very short period of time before he is quickly on to something new. He smiles and laughs the entire time he is in the swing. It seems to be very well made and sturdy, the ropes are high quality, and the swing hangs straight and steady. We feel he is very safe in it. I specifically asked my daughter if she has any problem putting his feet through the leg openings with his shoes on, since I have read other reviewers comment on this. She said any time you try to put a toddler's feet with shoes on through anything, it is tough because they do not know how to manipulate their feet to ease them through. She said it requires a little maneuvering to get his feet through the openings, but that is a minor problem in comparison to the pleasure it brings him and the peace of mind it gives his mommy. The alternative is to have large openings that would reduce the security and safety of the child in the swing. I would definitely recommend this swing.

I ordered this swing for my 11 month old and received it today. This swing is the best I have seen. It is made very well just like all of step 2's products. I hung it from my other children's step 2 big climber and it fit perfect. I put my son in it and he just could not stop laughing and smiling, He loved it. After about a half hour I took him out and he was ready for a nap. As we were walking towards the house I looked at him and he was just staring at the dolphin swing smiling, then he waved bye to it. It was so cute. As I walked in the house I knew the swing was perfect for my little guy. This swing seems very safe for a baby from 9 months and has a seat belt. It's a nice change from the boring regular swings. The price is very reasonable also. Buy this swing for your baby and you won't be sorry. We love it!!!!!!!!!!
