This is a good textbook for learning Esperanto., July 23, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Step By Step in Esperanto (Hardcover)
This textbook has stood the test of time. It has seen multiple publishers and has stood up well. Although it is one of the older textbooks for English speakers learning Esperanto, it does not convey a dated feel. It is broken into over a thousand small, easily digestable lessons. This makes it extremely well suited to self-study students learning in their spare time. It's small size also makes it easy to take along.

Best Esperanto book for English speakers, July 23, 2009
This review is from: Step By Step in Esperanto (Hardcover)
This classic Esperanto textbook is great for the beginning student, or for the more advanced student seeking to review specific points of grammar. It can be used by children as well as adult learners.
It is organized into a large number of mini-lessons, each on a single point. There is an index, so that if you are having trouble with a certain word or grammatical rule, you know just where to go to work on it.
It can be used in classrooms, but is also useful for self study. It is often used as a supplement to other Esperanto learning texts. As another reviewer pointed out, you will need an Esperanto dictionary. I recommend the one by J. C. Wells, which is a two-way dictionary which has stood the test of time.
