This was a good read, mind you it is a quick read. I finished it in a few hours. The writing is not exceptional, but what is exceptional is this woman. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading books of this nature.

Thank you Donna for writing this book, you are such a brave lady. I cried throughout the book and wish you all the best for you and your family..some people will comment just for the joy of hurting you, just like your stepmother. I say they are the ones that we should feel pity on....they know no better. Good luck.

I read it and I can't believe that someone treats children that way. I think it's gross that any mother can do that to her child.

This book keeps me coming back, It is so hard to put down. I have never heard of such horrific abuse of a child in my life. I have some foster kids who have been abused...I think I will have them read this book. I personally think it's worse then "A Child Called It".

This is not the first book i have read on child abuse and some parts of the book surprised me about the behavior of the author. i do have sympathy for her but i think she is so bitter that she is throwing blame everywhere. I feel like she is pretending to have a great/perfect life now and she isnt. She doesnt talk to her brother Simon for what? What did he do? She has alot of blame for her dad for "not telling her one word about her real mom" and "he should have known she wanted to know about her real mom" . Was her dad a mind reader? She wont even try to search for her mom to find anything out that her dad didnt tell her. Does she just want to blame Dad and make him look like a bad father because he didnt "save her". If she wanted to know about her mom why didnt she just ask her dad? Or why does she refuse to search for answers herself?
The ending of this book just got worse. She guesses what kind of reader is reading this book and puts down the reader himself/herself. My advice to Donna is to get some counseling and stop the blame game. Realize your step mom was a bad person and get the chip off of your shoulder. You are not healed yet. You did have a very unfortunate situation and still need help healing. Nothing wrong with that. This is the first child abuse book i read where the child that was abused wasnt healed. It wasnt a real pleasent experience. I was so dissapointed that i wrote this review. This is the first review i have ever written. |
