A great album, and seemingly, the only place to find, 'I DON'T KNOW WHERE TO START' !!,
This review is from: Step By Step (Audio CD)
Here is another nice Eddie Rabbitt album.
This one was released in the middle of a string of number one hits in the early 80's. Three songs topped the charts from the album. The first two went to #1, and the third landed at the #2 spot. The b-sides of those three are also included in this great album. 1. "Step by step", b/w "My only wish", 1981. 2. "Someone could lose a heart tonight" b/w "Nobody love me like my baby", 1981. 3. "I don't know where to start" b/w "Skip-a-beat", 1982. The first 2 hits are easily found, the problem arises if you would like the 3rd hit, which I do, but seems you can only find it on this one c.d. That may have something to do with the higher price! Well, for now I will keep listening to my vinyl, true it's not as handy, but it will do for now. This is good, easy listening country music.

This was the first album that I had from Eddie Rabbitt. If you like his style then you would like this CD, it represents the very best of Eddie Rabbitt same goes for his album Horizon.

i was in college when i first heard eddie rabbit's "step by step" i immediately went out and bought the album {cassette, that is}. i couldn't get enough of this album. my absolute favorite song was: "someone could lose a heart tonight" the only thing i disliked about this album was none of the songs were long enough, particularly "someone could lose a heart tonight" however i did find this album to be very romantic. each song took me away from the world of studying and into a dreamland of fantasy, every time i listened to it. for all of you eddie rabbit fans, you will not go wrong with this one.

I hadn't listened to any Eddie Rabbitt music in a while, it's 2009 now, and was thinking lately it was time I had again. I'm so glad I pulled out this one! Great album, very similar in style to Horizon. "Bring Back The Sunshine" is a very sweet melodic song. "I Don't Know Where To Start" is a very touching love song. A number of songs here pick up the beat a bit and make for great listening, like "Dim Dim The Lights", "Someone Could Lose A Heart Tonight" (my favorite on the album), "Nobody Loves Me...". Not to mention the title song. This is a real must have. If you only plan on a couple of Eddie Rabbitt albums in your collection, go for this one and Horizon.

Just Awesome!,
This review is from: Step By Step (Audio CD)
The only 2 records that I owned as a child that have not been remade into a CD were Horizon and Step by Step. Over 600 CD's. I even recorded the original LP's into a minidisc, however, no way to play on my mp3 player or in my car. Well, thanks to someone that made these into MP3's I want to say thank you for finally making them MP3's. I really thought about sending them off to have them digitally converted over the years, but a studio wanted over $100 to do this.

i was looking for it for so long; somebody give it 3*, so here are my "3 words"...
Like Novo Combo, Dean Martin R: records (Dino, Everybody Love Somebody), Kingdom Come KC, Rod Stewart Body Wishes, etc... etc... long forgotten good albums... to compare, I can say he was before Shania Twain, if you like her with John "mutt" production, then you like this album

an extremely mellow album that's impossibly slight and very boring,
By Dave "missing person" (United States) - See all my reviews

The late Eddie Rabbitt received major crossover success with his 1980 album "Horizon". This follow-up album, 1981's "Step By Step", seriously sounds like a rush job. One gets the feeling Eddie was in a hurry to meet a record company deadline despite a lack of quality songs on hand from Eddie and his writing partners. Don't get me wrong, Rabbitt was an undeniably talented artist who did have a wonderful voice. As for this particular album, it rarely hurts your ears per se--it's an extremely mellow affair--but song upon song is incredibly dull with whitebread lyrics, and the resulting album is an exhausting bore. The record starts off with the early Elvis-styled rockabilly tune "Early In The Mornin'", and it's extremely slight and overly repetitive, even though it doesn't even reach the two & a half minute mark. The power ballad-styled title track is again way too repetitive, not to mention painfully sickly-sweet. The album is simply littered with whitebread lyrics of romantic obsession and/ or devotion that are shallow and dull beyond all belief--the incredibly bland ballads "Rivers" and "My Only Wish" are prime examples of this. Also dull are "I Don't Know Where To Start" and "Dim Dim The Lights", the latter of which suspiciously recalls the chorus of the Pure Prairie League's "Let Me Love You Tonight". As for decent tunes, there's the downbeat 'rocker' "Someone Could Lose A Heart Tonight"; the respectably tuneful "Bring Back The Sunshine"; and the Rabbitt solo composition "Nobody Loves Me Like My Baby" which curiously matches the simple feel-good lyrics with a catchy, haunting minor-keyed tune, although the track does get excessively dragged-out. Overall, a very disappointing album that's certainly not worth going out of your way for--the lack of energy and imagination make for a very tedious and unrewarding listening experience.
