This CD ("Step Into My Life") is the re-issue of his best album "Ich denk an Dich" (Oct.©1989 BMG CD 260 344).The original CD is not being sold in the U.S.A. because of its title (German). But this is the best album of ENGELBERT !!! Four singles from this album were produced: My favourite songs are "Red Roses For My Lady", A "must-have" for all his fans!

This CD should have a warning label...it's addictive !
The combination of Engelbert's phenomenal vocals, backed by the polished super-pop arrangements and production of Modern Talking's Dieter Bohlen makes this one of Engelbert's most unique albums, and one of his best. One only has to hear a few bars of the opening track to recognize the German pop sound, with what sometimes sounds like a carousel organ pounding out the beat, and fabulous rousing songs like the Modern Talking hit "You're My Heart/You're My Soul", which is the one that gets the repeat button the most...the repeat button gets used a lot on this CD, which has really had a workout in my stereo since its purchase. There is no track listing saying who the composer/lyricists of the songs are, but I know Engelbert wrote "Step Into My Life", and the terrific "I Get Lonely", which is one of the numbers that will make you want to get up and dance. There's a marvelous new version of the early hit for Engelbert, "A Man Without Love", and a song tailor made for his soaring voice, the beautiful Francis Lai/Carl Sigman "(Where Do I Begin) Love Story". With a nice balance between ballads and up-tempo tracks, and even a lovely religious song, "Star of Bethlehem", great sound and fantastic arrangements (very impressive when heard on earphones), this 1989 recording is a must for Engelbert fans, and is just sheer pleasure for all of its 54'53 minutes of playing time...music that will make you smile, and wipe the stress of the day away. Pump up the volume and enjoy ! |
