5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME SOUNDTRACK!!!
I love this soundtrack! I wish they had more of the violin players on it as well but its still good. If anyone is interested...the violinists are an actual group called Nuttin But Stringz and they should be coming out with an album of their own on Oct. 3rd. Check out their website if you like them!!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars missing something
I thought the songs on this soundtrack were great, but what I really wanted to hear was all of the music that they danced to in rehearsals and in the end- the remixed stuff with the violins. Does anyone know if they're planning on releasing that music on CD? other than that, the soundtrack was cool.

4.0 out of 5 stars PRETTY GOOD, December 25, 2006
A Kid's Review

I love love love this soundtrack.. the only thing that disappointed me when I got is was that the senior showcase song at the end of the movie wasn't on the cd! I think that the mix ("Bout It" instrumental apparently?) should be on there because besides Channing Tatum, was the reason why I bought the cd thinking it would be on there. Otherwise, I love all the songs they're great to just chill too.

4.0 out of 5 stars Feelin' This Soundtrack, August 12, 2006

This is one of the best soundtracks that I have heard in a long time. All the songs are really good. The soundtrack has a little bit of something that everyone can enjoy. It has lots of club and dance tracks obviously, but it has a few ballads and midtempo tracks as well. The new artists provide refreshing and quality tracks and the well known artists do the great job that is expected of them. It will excite you about the movie and provide great entertainment as well. Hot songs: Step Up, Feelin' Myself, and Show Me The Money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great soundtrack :->, August 14, 2006

What a tight soundtrack. I've heard a lot about this movie (but haven't seen it yet as Australia is last in the world for everything), and so I decided to check out the soundtrack which is really, really good. I don't think there is a song on here I don't like.
While I like all the songs, the three that stand out the most to me are (When You Gonna) Give It Up To Me - with the same Sean Paul sound we know but with the addition of Keyshia Coles stunning voice. Then there is For The Love (a cool, funky ballad) and U Must Be by Gina Rene. That's a soul/jazzy song with a good feel to it.
Let me just say that if the movie is as hot as this soundtrack, I cannot wait. There are some major songs here and I have no doubt this will become a big hit. With artists like Mario, Young Joc, Keyshia Cole and Anthony Hamilton on it, you can't go wrong. This is great.

Great soundtrack. Really dug the different mixes of hip hop with underlying orchestra tones. 99% of the times I buy soundtracks are when the movie was so mediocre I'm looking for something else to keep my attention. The acting was blah, but the dancing was fabulous. A couple of the love ballads I skip over, because I don't really appreciate high-pitched R&B men's voices, but overall, good dance music.

4.0 out of 5 stars Decent Soundtrack, August 20, 2006
This review is from: Step Up (Audio CD)

Step Up is the movie that came out of nowhere and has been holding steady at the box office the past few weeks. The dance oriented film has struck a chord with young audiences across the country--thanks in part to the soundtrack which was released by Jive Records. Several songs from the soundtrack are currently in rotation on radio and at video outlets.

"(When You Gonna) Give It Up To Me," by Sean Paul featuring Keyshia Cole has been one of the hottest songs of the summer. "Get Up," by Ciara featuring Chamillionaire has kept Ciara on the radio until her new album comes out this fall. "Say Goodbye" by Chris Brown is a ballad, the video premiered on BET in mid summer.

Most of the artists featured on the set are on the Jive Records (or one of their subsidiaries) labels roster. The song "80's Joint" by Kelis is one of the hottest tracks on the set.

Hip-hop represents on this soundtrack with new songs by Clipse featuring Re-Up Gang with Roscoe P. Coldchain, Youngbloodz, Dolla, Petey Pablo. Yung Joc and 3LW team up for the song "Bout It," which isn't a remake of the Master P classic.

In the scope of soundtracks, Step Up is a decent soundtrack but similar to the Coach Carter soundtrack people probably won't be talking about this soundtrack 20 years from now but it's a decent soundtrack for the moment with some good songs from popular and up and coming artists from today.

5.0 out of 5 stars A soundtrack that shines!, January 18, 2007
This review is from: Step Up (Audio CD)
Featuring some of the best in new hip/hop, the soundtrack to the impressive `Step Up' has a lot to offer. It's about time that a hip/hop based soundtrack has offered such an impressive track listing. The infectious `Get Up' by superstar Ciara & rapper Chamillionaire may very well be the most addicting and dance worthy track here. Sean Paul is helped out on his track by the lovely and talented Keyshia Cole (just LOVE her) and Yung Joc gets a workout with 3LW (didn't know they were still around...didn't they ditch to become Cheetah Girls???)

Some major highlights come from two of the supporting stars of the film, Mario and Drew Sidora who heat things up together on `For the Love' and then Drew blazes the track on `Til the Dawn'. Kelis does very well (although I have trouble liking anything she does lately...after putting out filth like `Bossy' I just cringe at the thought of her) and the likes of Anthony Hamilton shine brightly. Featuring hit-makers like Chris Brown and Petey Pablo and some little known talent like Gina Rene and Deep Inside (who hold their own) `Step Up' is one of the biggest surprises of last year, not only in film form but on disc as well!

Good move but the soundtrack only has a two or three good songs. I like the Step 3 soundtrack a whole lot better.
