I wanted to get this for my son because he was taking a little longer than usual to become friends with alot of the kids in his pre-k class and wasn't really speaking up. The teacher told me to get him puppets and act things out with him.. So when i was looking at it online he said he wanted it for christmas.. He was talking about it for about 2 months straight-lol.. he even told santa thats what he really wanted..when he woke up and saw it under the tree he was EXCITED. Putting it together was easy and the 2 puppets are good for his hands. He loves playing with it.

I purchased this puppet theater almost 3 years ago after our wooden one broke after 2 years (that one cost $80). I have an in-home childcare with kids ranging in age from 2 - 6; all of them enjoy this puppet theater. I researched for an hour before deciding on this one, mostly because of the design and because Step2 makes awesome products. The kids use this almost daily, it's incredibly durable (looks like new, even the curtains), the curtains are thick and fun for the kids, the shelves in the back are a wonderful way to store the puppets (we have tons of our own, so I didn't care about the ones included with this set), and the colors are bright. My only reason for giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is that--as others have mentioned--it can tip easily unless the yellow folding doors are opened all the way. Once opened, our toddler has climbed back and forth through the opening without tipping it. I'll take the convenience of a smaller footprint for storage/space than the slight inconvenience of occasional tipping. If you are a childcare provider or wnat one for your own children, this is the best, hands down! Wood ones do NOT stand up to frequent use and aren't half as sturdy as this. Plus, the price is incredibly reasonable.

I thought this was a great idea in theory, but in reality, you have a huge purple plastic thing that can't be folded or hidden away, that tips over very easily and that none of the kids that play over our house seemed even remotely interested in! It has been gathering dust in our attic and will likely go out with the next yard sale!

The theater arrived in a box that had been through hell. There were holes in the box, it was dented, and ripped. I was surprised that everything was still in the box. There were a few small scratches on the bottom of the theater but nothing too noticeable. It does seem to be able to fall over easily and if the little doors in the back are left open, it gives it a bit more leverage. My girls haven't played with it much as they got other things they were more excited about for Christmas. I would say that for the most part, we are happy with the product. It was really easy to put together and the instructions were very clear.

I bought this puppet theater for my 3 1/2 year old for Christmas. He absolutely loves it! I would recommend this for anyone. It is light enough for an adult to maneuver it all around the house but I did tell my son he isn't allowed to walk around holding it b/c he could get hurt. There is storage behind the theater but it is so small you may only fit 4 puppets inside. My son puts on shows for me all day long. It is so wonderful to see him acting with his puppets and coming up with his own show ideas. All in all I am very pleased with our purchase! Definitely a winner in my house! When his cousins came over, they all played with the theater together. 2 put on a show and 2 watched the show. Very cute.

I had to share the feelings of joy I had as I watched my grandchildren play with the Step 2 puppet theater I purchased for them for Christmas this year. It is very durable and easy to put together. There is room in the back for the storage of the puppets and even a light to illuminate the stage. The only warning I would have is to keep the doors open in the back to avoid a tipping factor. They have spent hours since then playing with it and I am sure that it will be something that they will enjoy for years.

Purchased this as a Christmas gift for my 4yr old. Prior to opening the item, got the tools that were required to put it together. As I opened the item, noticed that the tools were not needed, everything was put together. This tells me that I got a used item not a new as advertised. My opinion is its not worth price for a used toy, it tips over easy and the pupets are a cheap quality meant only for a 4-6 year old hand...

I bought this for my daughter last Christmas. This was a great purchase for her. We have spent hours and hours of watching puppet shows and seeing how creative my five-year old is. Very sturdy and simple. I put it together Christmas Eve in 5-10 minutes. Has a light even so you can do shows at night. I love the storage in the back. We just put all the puppets in there and put it away when we are done. It is very light and my little girl can drag it from room to room. All her cousins and friends have loved doing their own shows. Cost was under $50 and included a couple of puppets with it. I bought a set of puppets to go with them, and it has been one of the best Christmas presents so far. Almost a year old and still looks new. Great purchase.

I purchased this as a gift for my 4 year old. She liked it but on the first day we got it leaned through the opening and tipped the toy over and fell with it. She was not seriously injured however had my 1 year old been near by he would have been crushed. Step 2 was horrible to deal with. They said they would not pay for shipping to return the item because the item itself was safe it was just not meant to be leaned on? What child does not lean on it. I will never purchase a step 2 item again!

This Puppet theatre was easy to assemble. Perfect gift for a 3 years old but you have to purchase more puppets. Good quality and good colors. It is quite light so easy to carry. Good purchase for the price.
