I bought this for my two young daughters. In summary, it's a hit. A BIG hit. The arrangement with kitchen on one side and seating on the other lets this serve as a dual pretend play environment. There's a nice selection of food, utensils (cooking and eating), pans, coffee carafe, etc.

I bought this for my two young daughters. In summary, it's a hit. A BIG hit. The arrangement with kitchen on one side and seating on the other lets this serve as a dual pretend play environment. There's a nice selection of food, utensils (cooking and eating), pans, coffee carafe, etc.

There are only two nits. First, it's just plain miserly to not throw in the requisite batteries. (You'll need 2 AAA, and 4 AA batteries. The Amazon description says 2 AA, but that's wrong. They forgot that the jukebox needs them too.) The second nit is that getting a couple of the pieces to fit together took some effort.

You'll find that a power drill/screwdriver is a necessity (a dozen or so 2-inch screws have to be driven into the plastic). I also found that a hairdryer helped the seat fit, when it was otherwise not wanting to slip into place. I just warmed the plastic until things flexed sufficiently. I also used a long woodworking clamp (e.g., an Irwin Quick Clamp, 36 inches long) to squeeze and hold some pieces together while installing the long screws. An assistant could do this also, but the clamp is hander, if you have one.

Again, the kids love it. I'd buy it again, especially on sale.

i dont agree with another review about only 1 *, because of prices, well if you dont agree with something, find another places or web site. in walmart is only 89$(offert can change) and you can learn more about this item, there are reviews in wallmart site, i think its a great product if not read this

"We purchased this for my 2yr olds birthday. We have a 3yr old as well and they both love it. They sit in the booth all the time and mostly play with the ice cream. They love to pour the coffee in my cup in the morning. It is much smaller than I anticipated and a good choice if space is limited. It was fairly easy to put together"

"This is a very sturdy and well made product. My children have had it for over a month now and nothing has broke. I am even able to squeeze into the seat! My older children 8 and 10 love the kitchen almost as much as the 2 year old. All of the accessories are great as well. The ice cream and cones being their favorite!!

If the toy is good and fun we pay well for it!!!!!

Unless you're Shrek, you must use an electric screwdriver. After several hours of using our considerable strength to try and push the seat pegs in, we sprayed them with PAM and they did slide in easily. Love the toy. Thank goodness for PAM.

We love this Diner. This toy is a hit at our house, everyone loves it from the one year old up to the ten year old. The littlest ones love to pretend to pour the coffee, play the jukebox, sit in the seats and pretend to cook the food, and ring the bell to let the others know their order is ready. The oldest children still love it too, and even pretend to pay for their orders. I didn't think the price was bad, and as always, love Amazon's free shipping. Look at all that you get, a toy kitchen area on one side, complete with sink, stove, ice cream freezer, storage areas and more. And the diner side is just darling with the jukebox, seats and table. Plus all the food, dishes, pans and utensils are included. This toy has won numerous awards and is a toy that will grow with your children. The little boys love it just as much as the little girls. What a great way for kids to learn about cooking, taking turns, table manners, and more. I just wish that it was a bit bigger, as the ten year old doesn't fit as well as he would like. And too bad it didn't come with a leather jacket and a poodle skirt. :)

I bought the 50's Diner for my 3 year old grandson last Christmas because it didn't look feminine. He loved it. My other grandson who is almost two loves to play with it so much that I ordered one for his second birthday coming up soon.

Its been 10 months....If i had it to do over again i would have chosen a wooden one with more doors to open and close(the only thing on this one is the oven and one cabinet) or another plastic one with more options like a microwave...I thought the booth would be great but it turns out she really doesnt care becacuse she has a princess table and generally uses it becacuse there is a lot more room for her food....It is very tight to fit two small play plates on the booth table not to mention their ice cream floats and drinks. Another thing is the oven door is loose it wont stay closed. there was no standing on it or anything its just loose it pops open even when noone is around it. Its an ok toy but for the money I could have gotten something a lot nicer that she would have liked better.

I think this is one of the most versatile kitchen set. My son loves it. He likes to cook and eat there. It's not wood material so it's not as sturdy but very easy to assemble (I did it myself in an hour or so) and I haven't had any issues with it falling apart. I bought this for my niece for her 1st birthday and she been playing with it for a couple of years. There's so much in the set that it keeps my son entertained for awhile.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very chaming! A hit with the family and friends, February 24, 2009

We bought this item for our Son's 4th birthday - reluctantly (he was so set on it). Thought it would be too small - but it works well for him even though he's a tall 4 year old. Still doesn't take as much space as you'd think. Also, I'm not usually a fan of the fifties theme, or promoting diner food, but I am so sold on it now! The accessories are very well thought out and the whole unit seems very sturdy. Stays in our living room so we can cook and dance to the music while guests sit in the sturdy chairs in the booth. He even has his snack sitting in the booth on occasion. As stated previously - power drill is a must!!

My 21 month old son loves this! His grandparents got it for him for Christmas this year and from the moment he saw it he fell in love. All the details are there...down to the jukebox which he carries around playing all the time. :) Yes...we have to pick up all the little pieces at the end of the day but the hours of play are WELL worth it. My son showed interest in cooking early on (mimicking his father is my guess) and this was a perfect fit. I love the booth that seats two, his friends had a blast playing with him just yesterday.

Tons of fun! My grandson loves making coffee for me with the pretend coffee pot that had realistic boiling sounds. He also loves eating at the attached booth while he listens to the juke box. I couldn't be more pleased with my purchase.
