A bit small on the inside, March 4, 2010

My kids love their play house, however it is a bit small to comfortably fit both inside. It is also not very tall. A 4 yo will have trouble fitting!

This is a really nice playhouse, but it is quite small. The front porch has a little yellow bench and a doorbell (very cute). Inside there is a small shelf under the left window and a small sink and stove under the right window. There are closeable shutters on the right window, but no shutters on the front, left or rear windows. The door is only a half door on the bottom. There is a skylight and an electric phone on the inside.
My daughter is a normal sized 3 year old and she and a friend can play on the inside without much room to move around.
There is no floor, so I constructed a floor out of some pressure treated 4x4 beams (laid out as joysts) with some sheathing laid over the top. This created a nice flat, level platform. I then used some screws to toe nail the four corners of the house to the platform. It worked out well. It would survive a hurricane.
Construction of the playhouse is very easy. It took much less than an hour - maybe 35 minutes or so. A second set of hands is useful - but not necessary - to get the roof in place. The only necessary tool is a phillips screwdriver, but I would recommend a power driver.
There is a sheet of decals, but they looked a bit tacky and we didn't put them on. They look like they would fall off anyway.
I really wish the inside were a bit bigger. The kids in the photo are deceivingly small. There should be shutters on all of the windows and the dutch door should have a top.
Delivery (through a freight company) was very easy - they called to make a drop off appointment and actually were willing to deliver the 80 lb box to a spot we designated in the backyard.

This is a very cute and fun house for my grandson to play in.
Glad I bought it! He is 5 now and still plays in it.
