This item arrived very quickly, but was much smaller than expected: two kids playing will be cramped and big dump trucks wont work in it. The lid also doesnt snap on in any way - it just sits on top and has already blown off in a light breeze.

I really wanted to like this thing, and I did, until I realized that the cover is completely useless. It does NOT lock into place or seal it at ALL. Because of this, we've dealt with the following issues:

1. The cover blowing away. The weather has been bad this spring with lots of storms, so we've had the cover blown off a few times. We solved this by putting a cinder block on it.

2. Moisture getting inside. Like I said, we've had a lot of storms this year, and each time it rains, water gets in. And not just a little bit either. It completely soaks the inside around the edges down to the bottom. This can lead to mold issues if not left open to dry.

3. Bugs getting inside. Thanks to this useless cover our sandbox has become a habitat for about 5 different kinds of bugs. Disgusting.

A sandbox shouldn't be this much trouble. What a shame, because it's really cute and seems sturdy. I guess this is a good choice if you never use it outside, otherwise please save yourself the trouble and get something that actually works.

I wanted to purchase an inexpensive and durable sand box for 1 autistic 10 year old and one very active 4 year old and this fit the bill. It is wonderful for my sons to play in the sand(as a form of play therapy) since it helps as per the occupational/floortime therapist. It's also a lot of fun for 2 boys to sit for an hour in one place pouring sand and making sand castles with the Sandastik play sand(free shipping with Amazon prime). It's a little cold outside but still worth it.

We use this as sandbox/pool. When our 2 year old gets tired of playing with sandbox we convert it into a small pool. It seems he likes the pool setup better than sandbox!

My two boys (2 and 3) love this sand box. They have the big turtle sand box at grandma and grandpa's house and love playing in it, so we decided to find a smaller version that would fit our condo's patio and leave some room for us to sit as well. This was perfect!

The boys love it, it fits two bags of sand and the lid is super easy to take on and off.

Totally worth it and the delivery was quick and FREE with Amazon Mom!

I bought this sandbox for my nephew's birthday, who has turned two! LOVE the durability of Step2 which is also the brand I have for many of my own son's toys. We love the color scheme since it matched the playhouse my brother had gotten him. We DID NOT realize how SMALL it is until after it had arrived and they opened it. This is for 2 kids MAX to sit comfortably and still play without knocking their heads together. The pictures give the illusion of it being larger until you REALLY look at the picture and placement of the kids...one in and one out of the sandbox. We do like the corner seating that is has unlike my sons. Many kids want to play in the sand but not sit in it! They are keeping the smaller sandbox as it works for him and with him being an only child and his cousins being 3000 miles away...he has the sandbox to himself anyway. Also works to not overwhelm the small patio they have living in Southern California. Just wanted to let others know BEFORE they buy to look at the size and compare....the QUALITY of the Step2 products is as always exceptional!

I like the construction and the size for my two year old grandson, but after every rain, the sand is a quagmire of mud puddles. I drilled a few small holes on each end of the sandbox and now the water drains away. It's OK if the sand is damp, but not puddling like it was.

I put 150 lbs of play sand in it and let them go to town with their beach toys. I would not recommend putting more than 150 lbs in as it will fill it all the way to the top, I think, and much will spill over and be wasted. It is definitely on the small side - I should have visualized the size better prior to purchasing - and probably would suit one small child at a time better than two. Still, they are having a lot of fun with it. Also it arrived two days sooner than expected - a nice bonus!

My daughter really likes the sandbox, and I haven't had any real problems with it. What can I say? It's a sandbox. It looks nice and the color fits well with our backyard, better than that turtle thing I see the neighbors having, but that's just personal preference. It is small to play in, especially for two, and not really well suited for doing things like playing dump trucks and the like, but just using sand toys, shovels, sifters, and little castle shapers, it's fine. My daughter actually prefers being outside the box and digging into it, rather than sitting in the box, or on the edge. My neighbor's kid does the same thing. But there is room for both on the seats in the corners if they wanted to sit there (yeah, good luck with that). The lid fits tight and it has never blown off. No rain gets in, even tough I think the sand is better when it is just a little damp, and less dusty. But that's the sand's fault, not the sandbox.
The only complaints I have include the edge where the lid fits in. Sand accumulates there, and I can only get the sand out by sweeping it onto the ground and then sweeping it up and putting it back in. I guess this edge thing helps keep the lid on though. I also think the sandbox is somewhat overpriced, as it really is fairly thin, but rigid enough, plastic. Considering it is in line with other boxes, or cheaper, that's a small complaint, but still, at this price, it should come with a palm tree unbrella or something.

We got this for my 1 and 3 year old daughters. It is a very nice sandbox for the price. It is only about 12" deep, so it's not enough sand to really get dirty/buried, but just enough for them to have fun! The back edge has 2 corners where the kids can sit so they don't have to be inside the toy box. The top slides on easily and fits into grooves on the edges-it DOES NOT have a way to snap it on/lock it down, so we put a rock on top just to make sure the wind wouldn't blow it off. Overall, it's a great little box and I would recommend it!

A random bit of caution, when buying sand make sure it's dry sand-we put damp sand in the box and even after leaving the top off for a few days, it still didn't dry out, so I would suggest drying the sand out on a tarp before putting it in the box or the sand will stay wet and even gets a little murky after being in the box for a while.
