We agree with all the 5 star reviews... but before we ordered it, I had a few questions I couldn't find the answers to... Here is what I was wondering, and now have the answers to
- Steps and slide are interchangeable- You can put the slide on the same side as the steering wheel or on the opposite.
- If you plan on putting one side of the climber against the wall, you can choose which climbing wall you want "out" and still put the slide going either direction. We needed the slide facing one specific direction, but felt our kiddo wasn't quite ready for the tall wall.
- Package will not fit in an SUV without folding the seats... Pretty large packaging
- The slide is one piece
- 4 screws hold it together, yet its pretty stable

Hope this helps... as with all the Step 2 products we own.. this one is good quality and should last a while.

We have a 19 month old active toddler who absolutely loves her slide. I researched a ton of climbers for the holidays and settled on the Step 2 climber after reading a number of positive reviews. I'm very happy we did. The climber is constructed of sturdy plastic and assembles easily. I gave myself a hour to build it but finished in 20 minutes.

One thing I love about this climber is that once my daughter is on the platform, she is unlikely to fall off accidentally. there is a portal on top of the stairs that prevents toddlers from falling off the climber, I was a bit worried from other designs I saw. Our daughter is able to negotiate the ladder easily, even though she is young. She even tackles the climbing walls with assitance. The slide itself is steep enough for a bit of thrill for the kids without being too tall. She loves the "fort" space underneath the platform.

Overall this was a great value for toddlers and should bridge the gap between the real "baby" slides for 1 year olds and a more substantial playground set for school age children.

I purchased this for my duaghter 5 years ago and it is still holding up. The color has not faded over the years. The structural intergrity of the unit (with exception of the floor board)is superb. The floorboard has warpped inward due to the weight of older kids standing and jumping on it, but considering i've had it for 5 years I am impressed it is still durable enough for my 3 year old to play on it. As long as I keep my 8 year old daughter and her friends off it, it should easily last another 2 years. Overall I would highly recommend this product.

I highly recommend this product! We purchased this for our twin boys a few months ago. They love it! It is great for indoor use, especially in the winter. The quality is excellent and I came home on my lunch break and put it together in less than 20 minutes. The boys use this daily. We filled the bottom with balls to make an indoor ball pit for them as well. It keeps them active and entertained. They were probably 17 months old when we first got it and they just continue to enjoy it more and more (they are 21 months old now).

My family and i just moved from always-sunny deserts of So. California to Buffalo, NY and my 16mos old son was literally losing it being stuck indoors all day during the awful winter weather. I had been looking EVERYWHERE for a nice sized play center for him and decided that if we were going to spend our hard-earned cash on something, it better last AT LEAST a couple years (I'm also expecting baby #2 and wanted to make sure that the piece would hold up) and not have him grow out of it after a month. We found the Woodland Climber on Craigslist, used, for $100. A day later I found it at Toys-R-Us for $150, BRAND NEW. It was a bit of a no-brainer. We set it up in our living room in under 7 minutes. (we took it apart later on that week to move into the toy room and it was just as simple to disassemble as it was to assemble)
You cannot see from the pictures just how big the climber is. It's GREAT! The top of the fort goes to my shoulder (I'm 5'6). There's a PERFECT space underneath where my son keeps his blocks and I find him every morning playing under there. We bought this when he was 14 months and barely able to climb. He's now 16 months and can climb up the stairs, slide down the slide and run back around again and do it all over for at least a half hour. Do you have a clue how much energy that is to a 16 month old?! Basically, the climber's doing it's job: it's keeping my son entertained and giving him a much needed outlet for all that energy that he's got stored up from being stuck in a house on those -20 days. And the best part?? Watching his smile as he goes does the slide backwards, forwards or arms first and hearing him squeal every time.
We recently had friends over and their 5 year old couldn't get enough of the rock-climb on the side.

Verified Purchase
I bought this climber for my grandson's first birthday. I love it. It is very sturdy and just the right size. It took my son and I about 25 minutes to put it together. It was sort of like putting together Legos; every thing snaps together and it has 4 screws for extra support. We used a drill with a screwdriver attachment to put the 4 screws in so if you don't have a drill you will need to borrow one as a regular screw driver will not work. Not only is this climber easy to put together, it will be easy to take apart and put back together if my son moves. For the price it is a great investment and it exceeded my expectations. I can't wait until my grandson is old enough to play pretend with the steering wheel or use the bottom part as a fort. Way to go Step 2!
