Great lesson for all ages,
By Candice Frederick (Columbus, Ga USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Stephanie's Ponytail (Classic Munsch) (Library Binding)
I am a pre-school teacher, and Stephanie's Ponytail is my all time favorite book. There are so many things to discuss. We talk about how feelings get hurt, sassiness, honesty, and copycatting. I have told this story to groups of up to 150 kids at a time, with all of them listening. I use it as an interactive story with them doing the "Ugly Ugly" chant, and I usually choose one to be Stephanie (usually a girl with a long ponytail). Robert Munsch's books are all great. Others I like are Show and Tell, Thomas' Snowsuit, MMM Cookies. They all have great lessons to teach the children in a funny way. Candice

Terrific book about peer pressure and individuality,

Stephanie just wanted to go to school with a ponytail. But first the other kids make fun of her hairstyle, and then they all decide to wear their hair the same way. Each time Stephanie changes her hairstyle, she is berated (Ugly, ugly, very ugly!) and then copied. But Stephanie get even with them! She tells them she will shave her head, and sure enough... everyone shows up at school bald as a baby, except Stephanie, wearing a ponytail in the back. The last two pictures in this book are hysterically funny. My kids love this book. It gives us a nice springboard to discuss whether they like to be trendsetters or followers, and how they feel when someone copies their original ideas. This is one of Munsch's best, and he is GOOD.

Review by a nine year old girl,
By A Customer
This review is from: Stephanie's Ponytail (Classic Munsch) (Paperback)
I am a nine year old. I like "Stephanie's Ponytail" because of the way Robert Munsch has Stephanie changing ponytails and everyone was copycatting her. I wonder why at the end he came up with shaving heads! I think that's so creative what he does at the end of almost every book. I like where all the kids say to Stephanie "ugly, ugly, very ugly!" So try some of Robert Munsch!

I never tire of reading it & still laugh every time I do!,

Stephanie's ponytail is a wonderful story to read aloud to children. It provides for a humorous way to teach about copying what other people do. I am a second grade teacher and have put multiple copies in our class library for the children to read themselves. Because they have heard me read it, and because of the repitition it contains, even my lower readers are able to enjoy it and feel some success at the same time. It has become a class favorite!

Awesome for any child,

This review is from: Stephanie's Ponytail (Classic Munsch) (Paperback)
Stephanie's ponytail is a lovely and clever written book that I bought for my six years old daughter, Stephanie. The moral of the story is that it's okay to be different. My daughter and I enjoyed the story; my daughter laughed so hard during the last four pages of the story when everyone in her class shaved his/her head. I would also recommend two other books written by Jon Muth, Zen shorts and the Three Questions.

Great Moral: Be yourself.,

This review is from: Stephanie's Ponytail (Classic Munsch) (Paperback)
I am a prekindergarten teacher. This book is a favorite of all of my students both boys and girls. The story has an important moral that all children can learn from. The moral is to be yourself and that you do not need to copy others. Stephanie not only does her own thing but stands up for herself. This story gives children the courage to stand up for themselves and to be an individual.

Our class's review,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Stephanie's Ponytail (Classic Munsch) (Paperback)
Stephanie's Ponytail is a book about a girl who thinks for herself. When she discovers that others at school copy her hair style, Stephanie leads them through a series of hairstyles that ultimately lead to total humiliation on the part of the "copycats"
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys humor and good illustrations. I like this book because it is playful. It also shows the importance of being an individual. This book is different than Love You Forever, which is another book by Robert Munsch. It is different because it is funny, whereas Love You Forever is touching.

Stephanie's Poneytail,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Stephanie's Ponytail (Classic Munsch) (Paperback)
This is a book about Stephanie and how the other kids copy her. She goes to school with a different poneytail each day. Because the other kids copy her, she plays a trick on them in the end. She tells them that she will shave her head, but she doesn't.
I like this book because it is funny. The pictures are great and the story is funny too. This book is different than Love You Forever. Although Love You Forever is also a book by Robert Munsch, Stephanie's Poneytail is much funnier. This is possibly the best book by Robert Munsch.

Stephanie's Ponytail,
By Erica (Illinois) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Stephanie's Ponytail (Classic Munsch) (Paperback)
Stephanie's Ponytail is a comical picture book that children in the primary grades would find entertaining. All children will be able to relate to Stephanie, who finds that her classmates want to copy all of her hairstyles. The illustrations are vibrant and laughable. The details in the illustrations add plot to the story and will intrigue readers. The text is written in a fun, light-hearted way and is sure to get a laugh. This book can be used to embrace the idea of being different and the importance of individualtity in a variety of classrooms.
