5.0 out of 5 stars AMAZING, September 29, 2011
This review is from: Stephen Brodsky's Octave Museum (Audio CD)
If you're reading this and honestly expect me to describe to you how phenomenal this album is within this text box, then perhaps this isn't the record for you. With this album, Stephen Brodsky has firmly cemented himself as a lyrical pop master. He executes hooky song structures that remind me of vintage Beatles tracks. And if you hate the Beatles, then it sounds nothing like their vintage tracks. It's way better.

Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars boston's best, November 12, 2006

This is another terrific addition to the varied collection of albums that either star or feature stephen brodsky. With his band Cave In, you get the hard rock, progressive styles, then the duo New Idea Society, he is the co-star bringing some of the best wistful tunes that are so big these days, and with his solo albums, which this is one, you get the pop stylings. Brodsky has a terrific voice, one that I never tire of, that works in all genres, and I am glad he remains as prolific as ever. I am always excited for his next venture. he should be a much bigger star. that is said about a lot of people but i dare to say, not many can stand up to the range of music that brodsky creates.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stephen Brodsky - a criminally underrated genius, August 28, 2007

I have been following all aspects of Stephen Brodsky and other Cave In related side projects for years now. Steve's music is pretty tough to define and I am beyond thankful for that. The man seems to have endless amounts of talent. With this, his third full length release, Steve steps away from his traditional 4 track methods and releases his first solo releases that was actually recorded in a studio(God City, I believe). The songs are as beautiful and stunning as they come, but for the first time in my Brodsky following, I find myself a little taken back by the results of the cd. First off, I like Steve's music MUCH better when he is working alone. With the Octave Museum, he has formed a full band comprised of undeniably talented musicians. The problem here is, to me, they just can't do his songs justice. Johnny's back-up vocals take away from the songs during the moments he can be heard attempting to hold his own with Steve. I won't get into that too much because, in the end it doesn't change how much I love the cd. My only other complaint lies in the studio recording. Maybe it's just because I'm used to Stephen's 4 track sound, but hearing his music with real production and fine tuning can take away from the emotion and feel of the songs at times. Again, these are very minor issuse I had and nothing more. Honestly, I really think Steve can do no wrong!
