I read the first page here on Amazon and I'm pretty sure that I know more about Stephen than the author of the book does. He does not pronounce his name with the T at all. He decided in his early 20's that he was going to go by Col-bear because he was moving away to Chicago from South Carolina and he knew no one knew him and he could make a fresh start. His dad told all the kids that they could choose to pronounce it Col-berT or Col-bear, so some of his siblings do go by Col-berT. I expect that I could earn some of the royalties from the sale of this book as I have already painted a more accurate picture of Stephen than the author has.

It probably went something like this:

"Hmm, people like Stephen Colbert. They search for books by or about him on Amazon. If I write a book about him, it will show up in the search results. I don't have to actually do any original research. I can just regurgitate the same information I find on Wikipedia and reformat it for Kindle. I can do the same thing with other popular celebrities people search for on Amazon. It takes minimal effort on my part, and chances are someone will be curious enough about one of my booklets to risk three bucks. Cha-ching!"

This one popped up on the free list one day so I downloaded it just to see how useless it is. Result: It's like a summary version of the more in-depth information you can get for free on Wikipedia.

However, I give it an extra star because, to its credit, while this book does have a few stray typos, the spelling, grammar, punctuation, and formatting overall are far more coherent than most self-published kindle books that try much harder to produce original content. That doesn't make it worth your $3, but it is what it is.

51 pages of crap. Not worth what I paid for it which was nothing... Amazing that anyone would call this a book.
