Horrible chemical smell,
This review is from: Stephen Joseph Lunch Box, Monkey (Baby Product)
Beware. This contains PVC, which is not mentioned in the description. We opened it and it had a chemical smell. I would not use this for a child's lunch! Try the environmentally friendly ones that say they do not contain PVC.

Great Lunch Box,

This review is from: Stephen Joseph Lunch Box, Girl Monkey (Kitchen)
My 6 yr old daughter chose this lunch box out of dozens of others we saw on Amazon.com and also ones we saw in store. The size is perfect for us, it will hold a compartmentalized ziplock container and still have room for an ice pack which can be put in the mesh pocket on the inside. Another review mentioned a "horrible chemical smell" but I had to stick my nose to it to find it. There is a slight plastic smell (as with most new things) but it wasn't apparent when I opened the box. There is also a velcro band inside that will keep a water bottle upright, a nice zippered area on the front, and the outside seems like it will be easy to wipe clean. My daughter's last lunch box had a mostly fabric exterior and I had to wash it often as she would put it on the ground. Needless to say, it was not fun. The design is so cute! The monkey's face, hands, and belly are slightly raised as well as the the small flowers and parts of the larger ones. I can't yet comment on durability but it seems well made.

Passed endurance test (1 school year),

What I expect from a kids' lunch box is that it holds up well for at least one school year. This lunch box passed the test. My 1st grader used it each day throughout the school year. Now that the year is over, it looks a little ratty with two very tiny rips, but it's still fully functional with working zippers. But he has outgrown the monkey design. This lunch box is a little softer around the sides than the stiffer Crocodile Creek lunch box. I've used both and like both (the Crocodile Creek lunch box also held up well for everyday use during the school year). Wish these lunch boxes lasted longer, but they are what they are.

Cute, but perhaps not durable enough,

I bought this for my daughter when she started Kindergarten. It's very cute and seems to fit quite a bit, but because I put a small ice pack on the front pouch, it's now tearing. Depending on how much lunch you're packing for your little one, I would perhaps look for something bigger. My daughter has two snack breaks, on top of her lunch break, so I should have ordered something bigger. Otherwise it's really cute and was a hit with my daughter.

Works for dogs (-:,

My wife thinks I'm weird for doing this. I bought this to store a water dish, water bottle, leash, and clean up bags for my dog. It fits perfectly under the passenger seat of our car and we're always ready to walk the dog or offer him a drink. The bag is big enough to hold everything, easy to wipe off any messes, and I think it is very cute. (I'm pretty sure my dog agrees.) But, hey, I'm sure it works well for kids, too.

I bought this for my three year old to take to daycare, it's been to school four times and the design is already rubbing off. While it is a cool and good sized lunch box, about 4 snack cups and a thermos will fit, I am disappointed in the design printing quality especially for the price paid.

This can hold a larger sized plastic container and still have room for a yogurt and a cooler pack and fruit. And it's cute!

You get what you pay for...,

The lunchbox is okay for the price; you get what you pay for. The insulation doesn't do its job; I have to keep an ice pack in the box during the day. The lining is cheap, cheap, and cheap; it ripped in three places on the inside. I use duct tape to hold it together. The lining stains easily but I place the lunchbox on the top rack of the dishwasher and the stains come out easy (tapes stays on). Overall my daughter loves it because it's pink and doesn't care about the tears.

This lunchbox was just what I wanted - something functional, non-commercial, cute, unique and made well. It has lasted 1.5 school years so far with a rough and tumble now 1st grader who seems to think it's a billy club at times! Shows some signs of wear but still in great shape. Will probably get him a new "fresh" one next school year by the same maker. Great product.
