5.0 out of 5 stars Go, sixers, go!, February 16, 2005

Very well produced! sounds really good on headphones. I wasn't crazy about the re-make of Anthem of our Discovery, because the last one was picture perfect. But it is still a great song, so there!

Such a Way gets a nice re-do. very different from the last version, which i also loved. The new songs people will recognize from the shows. Vegas rocks it out. "You've Changed" absolutely explodes out of the speakers. other highlights for me are maria & blue jean.

I was originally disappointed by flower in rain being the opener, since it is slow. But who could fault a great lyric like that one? sets the mood for great songwriting. Kinda funny that the guy who produced the likes of Jessica Simpson produced this record, because these guys are the real deal.

**Revision** - This has become my favorite album by this band. It's full of power and sincerity, and it has grown on me and hasn't left my car in 2 months. So I guess that says it all!

5.0 out of 5 stars I Can't Even Describe It, February 8, 2007
This review is from: Stephen Kellogg & The Sixers (Audio CD)
I was introduced to Stephen Kellogg by a friend who gave me the Flower In Rain single. I loooooved it. So, as soon as I could I bought this CD. I've been listening to it non-stop since then. At home while online, during my drive to work, in the office, and so on. I adore every song on this CD. They're all similar, so none are going to slap you in the face leaving you wondering how that track got on here.. Yet, there's enough variety that you won't be bored with the monotany of it. Cause let's face it, we've all experienced those two problems with many CDs. I definitely have my favorite tracks one here (Flower In Rain, Such A Way, You Changed), but I always let the whole CD play through, and I've yet to be disappointed by it ;-)

5.0 out of 5 stars 5 Stars all the way!, October 11, 2006

I first saw Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers at a show in Birmingham, AL. This was in Spring of 2006, my husband and I had decided to go over for the Pat Mcgee Band DVD shoot and these guys opened for them. WE WERE BLOWN AWAY. This band was making us dance our tails off and seemed to be having so much fun on stage. We headed to the merch booth and picked up 2 cd's for $20 (ROCK!) and this was one of them. I feel in love with it from the first listen. I have listened to this disc so many times and I never get tired of it. This is one to get, you won't be disappointed!

So last summer, I saw these boys at "Thursdays at the Square" DT Buffalo,NY styled. We love music here and these boys made a really good impression on us. They were really fun and energized. I bought the CD after seeing them live. The CD is great for anyone who likes a mix of pop and country. I don't like country music but they are good.

The song "Start the Day Early" is what got me hooked, and then I heard a couple of other ones on their myspace page, and I had to have the album. I have really enjoyed it, and I have exposed a lot of my friends and family to their music as none of us had ever heard of them before. We're all lovin' them!

Let's hope these guys hit it big. Until then these guys will be another one of my favorite non main stream groups.

If you can get a hold of a bootleg of their Iron Horse concert from 10/15/2006 it is awesome.

Rock me mamma like a wagon Wheel
Rock me mamma any way you feel!
Hey mamma rock me!

For those of you that saw them open up for O.A.R. you'd remember this song. They opened with it and it got the crowd revved up for what they were about to witness.

Love these guys.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome CD, February 14, 2007

I agree with the previous postings. I was introduced to this band when they opened for O.A.R. and have been a fan ever since. They have an unbelieveable stage presence and are all phenomenally talented musicians. There is nothing they can't play. I am also surprised that they aren't bigger than they are. Someday people will realise what they've been missing. Their concerts are top notch. Buy as much Stpehen Kellogg and the Sixers as possible.

Living in the area from which this band was born, I try to provide an unbiased review of one of my favorites. The music is heartfelt and catchy, great for curling up on a rainy day with a good book or crusing with the windows down on a warm autumn day. One of the great things about SK and the Sixers is that their talent transfers to the live venue; they don't just sing well, they entertain. As someone who has caught them everytime they come back home to the Iron Horse in MA, its worth the cover fee to get into the local bar or blues house to check them out. If you like this CD, definitely check out the less produced, earlier creations like "South of Stephen" and "Lucky Eleven". You won't be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars You Won't Give it up After the Fad Fades Away, November 16, 2005
By

Unlike your "bought it 'cause it was hot at the moment" purchases, this CD will remain at the forefront of your collection. It will be the one you will always grab on your way out the door, the one you will always have in rotation, and the one you will have to replace after it's been repeatedly lasered to death by your CD player.

The Sixers, seemingly effortlessly, have an amazing way with music. They work hard to keep it real, and it very much comes through in their music. The lyrics are amazing and so well done, their voices are phenomenal, and their talent really shines on this one.

Buy it, NOW! Enjoy it, FOREVER!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great New Discovery!, August 8, 2006
By
This review is from: Stephen Kellogg & The Sixers (Audio CD)
I saw Stephen Kellogg & The Sixers for the very first time at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival in Colorado in June of 2006. I had never heard of them before. First of all, you should know that they are not a bluegrass band. The Telluride festival always includes a wide range of music. I would classify them more as folk rock. Secondly, they are great! Stephen is a great song writer and the music is really good. Finally, their live show is very entertaining. Funny, clever, professional, you get the idea. I now own both Stephen Kellogg & The Sixers' CDs plus one of Stephen's earlier solo CDs. Check them out. You won't be disappointed!
