A great novel,
This review is from: Stepmom (Mass Market Paperback)
I think this has got to be one of the best novels based on a movie I have ever read except for Lean On Me but that's a different story anyway I give this book a ten because it has a moral to it, teatches how two worlds can be so different, learning to acept changes a really good moral! Even though some of the language was totaly uncalled for I must remember that it is a novel based on a PG-13 book and not a childrens book, or young adult book but an adult book and I should respect that so anyways if I could I would give this book a 10 but since I can only pick 1,2,3,4, and 5 I'll just have to settel with a five.

A shameless tear jerker...,

This review is from: Stepmom (Mass Market Paperback)
The author pulled out all the stops to make readers pull out their kleenex. The mom is exemplary, the dad is perfect, the girlfriend is so Barbie-like. (By the way, how does one "pick up an Armani habit"?) Even while up to their antics, the children are lovable. The plot is all too predictable; stereotypes and clichés abound. By comparison, the Brady Bunch seem much more real to life.

Short and touching,

Despite the shortness (in amount of words/content) and its lightness (a thin paperback which weighs really light), this is indeed a good read. Initially, i borrowed this book (yes, i borrwed this book from a library) because of Julia Roberts, as the movies she starred in are usually great movies, though i have yet to see this movie, and i was really surprised when this book is a lot better than what i thought; after all, most movie books aren't as good as the movie itself, as a picture indeed speaks a thousand words--moving pictures, a hundred thousand words? Anyway, the way this story is written really touches me a lot, how Jackie (Susan Sarandon) went through her cancer, how Isabel (Julia Roberts) genuinely cares about Luke's (Ed Harris) children.... the way this story is weaved..... it really makes you feel for the characters. To sum it up, despite a rather simple plot, it's really touching and well worth your time.

All I can say is...WOW!!,

Can i just start off by saying that this book almost changed how i think about things now. The intensity and description in it was so deep and I feel that the actors and actresses in the movie are a perfect fit. I normally don't watch much TV but I just couldn't wait to go and get the video. I know not everything was realistic but you have to realise that screenwriters don't want to make a movie where everything goes wrong- you have to be sat on the edge of your seat all the way through and it was all written to perfection! Every tiny detail was captured. Two big thumbs up!

I think that the author did a fantastic job of turning the movie script into a novel. It was a nice read that was hard to put down!

StepMom was the best movie and book I've ever read and ever seen! It was a very sad yet beautifully written story and if you like sentimental, heartfelt, and genuine stories, read StepMom. Also if you have a stepmother, as I do, you can relate so much to the story or if you have any similar situation to the story, you'll feel the same way.

Step Mom was a wonderful book! I usually read all books before going to see the movie because I want to be surprised when reading them. I also like to know what is going on in the character's minds too. It was so touching and so descriptive. I haven't seen the movie yet because I'm afraid that it won't be as good as the book!

You can feel more when reading the book. I read the book before I went to the movieand realized that some parts were left out. If you choose to read this book keep a box of tissues nearby.
