Andre Ward is blowing up and for good reason. This second CD follows the debut in grand style, loaded with great tracks throughout. He's completely at home with renditions of classics like "All I Ever Ask" and "Holding Back the Years", as well as his original compositions like "Heaven In My Life", "Just Chillin" and "Every Time I Open My Eyes". It's a wonderful listen and his star is rising.

I am what you call one of the R&B and Hip Hop lovers. But, when I heard Andre's 2 CDs i was in shock. He is the first jazz musician I payed attention to and was a get introduction to jazz for me. I heard a lot of people talking about Grover Washington and bought some of his albums to compare and Andre seems to be pretty close to becoming the next best thing. I also seen a lot of people asking about the BONUS TRACK. It appears he wanted to try something new and put it at the beginning of the CD b4 the first track. start the CD and manually rewind to hear it. (Does not work on computers) Good luck in finding it.
and keep on Steppin up Andre cause we all defionately Feelin' You.

The best "New Jack" sax man out! I host a weekly "Smooth Urban" Jazz(S.U.)radio show and I love "Andre's" Steppin Up... Hands Down!...The best S.U. Jazz release of 2004.This CD compares to Gerald Albright's "Smooth" Project. The music on Steppin'Up is "full" and "complete".If you enjoyed Andre's "Feeling You" CD,then you are going to love "Steppin' Up." If it is not in your collection,you are missing something very,very,special.
Track #10 "Just Chillin" is a favorite of mine,the music flows and it is quality packed. This is an enjoyable and fun expression of "Smooth Urban Jazz" and the radio listeners love it! I rate this CD #1 on the "Jazzy J's Smooth Urban Chart"!! Thanks A.W. for the "sounds"
