Quick, delightful read,

I first received this book from a family member upon my graduation from high school. I do enjoy reading but I never made time until--8 years later, and now in my mid-twenties--I picked it up again. What a treasure! I enjoyed reading the frank thoughts of the young girl, Katy, as she wrote in her beloved journal. It seems that the silly cares and honest longings and doubts of Christian women have not changed much in 150 years! Katy writes in her journal for almost 30 years about the victories and opportunities to learn from everyday life. She records clearly what life is like for a new wife and mother and her struggle with her own selfishness. I appreciate that this book progresses in its teaching of Truth as Katy matures in her walk with Christ. The author organized the events of life realistically. Though this book is appropriate for teens (and even young adolescents), it will be best understood and appreciated by one who has experienced (or is experiencing) life in the why Katy is. I highly recommend "Stepping Heavenward" for a college graduate or even a new bride.

this is my new favorite book. I just read it and know that I will read it many more times. Mrs. E. Prentiss is such a godly example when life doesn't go as you planned it would. And even though it was written a long time ago is so relevent for us today! LOVED this book!!!! I would recommend it for anyone teenage and up! Fabulous read!

My great-great grandmother mentioned having read this book in her own diary in the year 1882, and spoke of how beneficial it was to her. So I ordered it just for that reason, but found I could not put it down once I began reading. What a wonderful inspiring account of one woman's struggles and victories in life, and her growth in her relationship with God along the way. I just LOVED it. I plan to read it again, though I NEVER do read a book the second time. It is very pertinent to today and the struggles in common to all women in all eras.
