Is it a rule...,
By
This review is from: 21 Steps To Happiness (Red Dress Ink Novels) (Paperback)
Is it a rule that every chick lit heroine must be on the verge of retardation? Seriously, this girl is dense, but I guess it fits in with the Becky Bloomwoods of the genre.
She thinks Nicholas is a hottie, so she starts off lying to him (i'm a vegetarian) for NO reason, accuses him of being gay every other day because her spastic boss said he MIGHT be and even though he says he's not and obviously likes her for some reason, she insists that he is; which makes me wonder is she trying to turn him completely off? Speaking of being turned off, what is up with this girl and hygiene? Every scene talks about how she stinks, didn't shower, can't get her act together, yet we're supposed to think that mr. angel himself nicholas and mr. billionaire mogul wants her? why? and some people are fighting over who gets to have her to work for them, although she has NO resume and hasn't proved productive in the least. good god, wish that I could just have handsome and/or rich dudes falling over me and a couple jobs thrown at me. And she's going to turn down a very high paying job she didn't earn for a dude she isn't even dating? The book started off good, i liked the wit and laughed some, but then I realized once she got to Paris that she is a highly unlikeable and borderline retarded character. WOMP

Disappointing!,

21 STEPS TO HAPPINESS is certainly lighhearted, so much so that it does not make sense! I like the premise, and I wanted to like the characters, but the characters aren't complete enough to be called one dimensional -- nothing but shells of people. Nothing and no one has any real motivation. I think the story probably has promise, but the writing and the plot are entirely too choppy, even for chick lit.
I generally like Red Dress Ink, so I am very disappointed in this book. The story just isn't FINISHED, I can't believe that any editor let this manuscript head to the printer.

Very entertaining! F.G. Gerson has a clever, engaging writing style. Knowing that these characters are based on real individuals, I was captivated by the story. Lynn and Muriel B. are full of surprises. I loved the ending. I enjoyed this book so much, that I'm reading it again!

this was a poorly written book!,
This review is from: 21 Steps To Happiness (Red Dress Ink Novels) (Paperback)
I read a lot of chick lit, and frankly-this was by far one of the worst books I have ever read. Most of the scenes about eating or food were digusting! The plot was all over the map, and sometimes made zero sense! Was there an editor involved in the production of this mess? Not reccomended!

I received this book as a gift and could not stop reading it! I was trapped in the fast pace and witty, humerous writing. The characters build this book into an entertainig journey. I loved it, it captured me from page 1. Lynn is a great character that makes you laugh and cry all through the book.
All the best Anna A

I LOVED this book. I could not put it down after I started reading it. I related to Lynn so much, even the things she says are things that I say all the time. So many laughs and so many *gasps*. I definitely cannot wait to read what else F.G. Gerson has in store... possibly a sequel to this book?? (I just cant get enough of the characters)

lighthearted chick lit,
This review is from: 21 Steps To Happiness (Red Dress Ink Novels) (Paperback)
Though she knows she earned the position in Paris on her own, Lynn realizes being the offspring of fashion world all time greats helped as she is now the public relations specialist for fashion designer Muriel B. However, Lynn quickly realizes that her client is fortunate to have talent because her antics would normally leave someone like her undergoing treatment at an asylum.
Lynn adjusts to working for the mad woman of Paris, but detests that no one sees her skills as she remains Jodie's daughter. She also struggles with her out of control personal life in which she desires Nicholas the "Angel" and likes the "Hub" who thinks she is the one. To cope with her DNA, her boss, and her two potential lovers, Lynn turns to the self help reference book 21 STEPS TO HAPPINESS. Lynn saves the tale from being an ultra lighthearted chick lit story (has the sub-genre trimmings, lists and all) as she brings freshness to the mix with her need to be more than just "Jodie's daughter" but soon takes to heart step 1: "never be ashamed of who you are". Readers will root for her to find herself, the right man, and kick some fashionable butt on her quest of 21 STEPS TO HAPPINESS. Harriet Klausner

This book has given me hours of funny reading. I enjoyed it and I love it. Sometimes when you read a book, you feel that you know what's going to happen on next page. With this book I've always been wrong because something else, funnier and totally unexpected happens. I recommend this book!

I recieved this book in the mail from RDI and I have to say I completely adored it. I laughed, I cried, I cheered for Lynn Blanchett. The characters felt real, and I hope that F. G. Gerson has more books in store in the future.

I just finished this first book by F.G. Gerson.
It was a cute book, but I couldn't find myself relating to the main character at all so I found it a little hard to get through. It was a cute story and I did have fun reading it. I'm looking forward to reading more from this man who writes chick lit. Hehe. Keep on writing! |
