The sole purpose of this book is to help you live longer and live better. As a neurologist, I have developed a program to achieve better Brain Health, by revealing the secrets to optimum brain function and by utilizing straight-forward solutions on how to keep you and your brain young. The goal of this book is to assist the reader to both capitalize on an opportunity to maintain a healthy brain; as well as, to help prevent many of the neurological disorders that affect us as we get older. This book will guide you in a straight-forward, direct and practical manner to help maintain your brain at full function for as long as possible.
It has become clear that there is not going to be a single pill that will ultimately achieve this goal and by taking that into consideration I found it is necessary to develop a comprehensive seven step approach. I really liked this book because it is an easy read....By that I mean that what I read simply made sense....Dr. Winner suggests "7 Steps" that we can all do in our lives in a very comprehensible manner....There wasn't any technical medical jargon used that I couldn't understand....I particularly liked the supplements section and the section that discussed dealing with stress....I am trying to incorporate the menu suggestions into my daily meals....Lastly, if you have headaches and/or migraines....there are some great vitamin supplement suggestions in this book that I found to be rather helpful....

The following is a review of Dr. Paul Winner's book 7 Steps to a Healthy Brain
Historians think much of our knowledge was previously discovered by the ancients and recorded on scrolls lost in the burning of the library of Alexandria. Other than the fact that the seat of emotions lies in the brain and not in the heart, the insights, information, and recommendations in Dr. Paul Winner's 7 Steps to a Health Brain could only be a product of our present age. It is a virtual treasure chest of knowledge that captures and simplifies many relevant discoveries in the fields of medicine, nutrition, pharmacology, biochemistry, psychology, physiology, neuroscience and even philosophy. It is as close to a modern guide to the "fountain of youth" as science has achieved to date. It is a learned, optimistic, landmark work that should be read by anyone, including patients and professionals interested in living as long and well as possible. As Dr. Winner concludes "learn to look, listen, and feel everyday to maintain a healthy brain. Phyllis S. Krassner May 2008

The book is a self help book of common sense which we all pretty much already know. I was expecting a more technical manual. It is easy to read, but hardly groundbreaking.
