Editorial Reviews

From the Author

This is the kind of book you can give to someone who thinks "preppers are nuts" and after reading it, most of them will understand a whole lot more about why folks like us prep.  It's not that we're paranoid; It's that the world is an increasingly complex place and cascading failures is a serious problem which could crop up almost any time even now. If that were to happen...

4.0 out of 5 stars Common Sense October 31, 2012
By Sandra
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book is a common sense guide to decluttering your life, minimizing your "footprint" and determining the best allocations of individual economic resources. I believe its' very brevity is intended to motivate the reader to start opening closets, cupboards, storage buildings, etc. and turn those unused items into cash, remove the clutter and stop the mindless buying that permeates society. It also encourages readers to develope a long term economic plan, something our polititians might take a shot at, also. To sum up the content in two words "Just think."

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a great book February 3, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I follow both Gaye's and George's websites, so I am very familiar with the work they do. When I saw that they wrote I book together I had to read it.

I really enjoyed it, it was easy to read and covered a lot of really nice to know information. As DIY guy I love X number of steps to ___ type books, and this one really delivered.

One thing I took away from this book was the idea of how to calculate how much food a person needs to store away for "life's little emergencies" - most companies that sell kits to follow the FEMA guidance of having stored emergency food typically have 2000 calories per person per day. For some that is too much, for many it is not enough. This book showed how to calculate exactly how much you need, and to store the amount of daily calories for the weight you should be.

I could go on and on with things I learned, but then you wouldn't need to get the book, and I think it is definitely worth a read.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Good Guide April 1, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The book was well written. I liked the fact that it pointed out in step by step to do list. The book is filled with good ole common sense. But that is rarely found in todays living.

It isn't about the doom and end of time, yet it can be used that way as well. The Title says it Steps to living a Strategic Life. This book can be used on a daily basis. Yet will be good information in a crisis. Help you to prepare so most crisis are not a big worry for you.

Maybe to simplistic for an advanced hard core prepper.

4.0 out of 5 stars In a nutshell September 10, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
11 Steps to Living a Strategic Life is the meaty bones of wisdom boiled down to a condensed, protein rich broth. Tasty, witty, not a lot of froth, just the facts on what it takes to live your life independently, deliberately. And the price ain't bad either!
