Though this book offers excellent guidance on observing ethical and moral standards in the artist management business, it offers very little in the way of the nuts and bolts of the business. It is a good read and points out a lot of valuable thoughts, I only rated it three stars because I found the title misleading, and it is not what I expected it to be.

Still, I think it offers valuable advise for anyone in any business.

A good, quick read. I liked this book because it is written by someone who has actually "been there" and managed some important, nationally known artists. I also like it because it showed me things to look for in a manager (I will eventually need to hire one). As Teddy Riley says, "Good Management is important to sustaining and maintaining a long and successful career," so I found this book helpful in giving me insight into what a good manager does, and how a good manager thinks. I learned how to evaluate a Manager, to see if they're actually doing good work for you. I also learned about the importance of the After-Action Review. As Mr. Scates says, "Knowing is half the battle." If I can avoid getting ensnared in a bad management deal, this book is worth ten times its cost. I can't wait for the sequel!

Overall, I really liked the authors ability to place so much information into a short and quick read. I walk away feeling as if I am ready to take on the world, but it won't take me forever to get there. Perhaps, more books can get to the point as this one does?

this book is very generalized. i read it in 15 minutes. i didnt really read the whole description before buying but i guess i should have! the author gives good advice for starters, but like i said, that's about it. i'll be giving it away.
