Scared, cold, and hungry, those of us who have ever pounded the pavement in search of a new job know how hard the going is. I remember wearing my best(and only) suit and sitting in an anteroom waiting for an interview that never came. I cursed the company, the secretary, the country that did not value the older job seeker. Finally, I justified my pain and cursed the moon and drank myself silly.
In 3 Steps to your Best Job Ever, Steven Steinfeld has put a lifetime of experience into a small handbook, filled with wisdom and methods that can be brought with you well before that interview and job you have dreamed about. 3 Steps begins with a sparring match between the author and his reader. He is able to transform fear and negativity toward a positive job search with clear, easy to grasp, and tangible methods aimed to teach and guide you toward success. I can easily see carrying a copy of this 'little engine that could,' book even after the job is won. It's insights are often profound with a positive attitude presented in clear, purposeful prose. Steinfeld is a natural born salesman who has wrestled the demons, slayed the dragons, and wants to give you this small gift of a lifetime of experience to help you put into practice an organized vision and a cohesive plan for job success. Well done.

Steven Steinfeld has outlined all of the essential components of a job search. If you are seeking an overview, this is one of the best career guides I have seen. It is easy to follow and well-organized. I particularly liked the social media chapter and the two chapters specifically written for recent grads and more experienced/mid-career people.

Regardless of whether you are a recent graduate or you have years of experience in the job market, the process of finding a job is overwhelming to most people. I recommend Steven Steinfeld's book if you want a no nonsense guide to developing a successful campaign for obtaining the right job. Steven's methods were developed from years of successfully counseling job seekers as an executive coach and lecturer. His three step approach: discovery, planning and action, takes the fear out of a job search and simplifies the process. His methods no only take the intimidation factor away; they make a job search fun. This book cuts through much of the time used by other books of this type by deleting the countless chapters composed of,"soul searching" exercises. Instead, Steven shows you how to get directly to the hiring decision makers in order to obtain a job offer for the job that is the best fit for you.

Steve Steinfeld has masterfully fit a ton of useful information into a straight-forward, no nonsense book that is easy to read
and easy to follow. The reader does not have to sift through a lot of fluff and the writing is not flowery. He tells you what you need to do, he tells
you how to do it and then he guides you into putting the whole thing into action. The author really understands people, business, human resources and networking.
For folks that need some help learning to network, he walks the reader through it. There is interviewing help that will help you be diplomatic and professional.
So many "self-help" books do not give you your money's worth. This book gives you your money's worth and then some. If you are serious about getting a job that is the
right fit for you this book is the best bang for your buck. I have read many of these books and this one is the most useful. That is why I give it five stars and I highly recommend it without hesitation.

Career expert Steven Steinfeld may modestly declare this book contains only three steps. But in fact he clearly lays out dozens of critical tasks that anyone between jobs or looking to enhance their career should do. Steven, through his extensive work with un/under-employed, recognizes that paralysis is one's biggest enemy. His stepwise approach with clear illustrates of what do to (and common mistakes) can help people cut right through their paralysis. And while older career books discount or ignore the value of developing one's personal brand, Steinfeld makes this a focal point, even laying out how to maximize electronic media networking via blogging, LinkedIn and Twitter, etc. The book also deals with unique topics such as how older (and younger) individuals should approach the job market and the career benefits of volunteerism, along with great recommendations on standard blocking-and-tackling stuff like resume & cover letter writing, personal presentation, employer targeting and interviewing. The book is also a great read--Steinfeld speaks to the reader in a personal, empathetic and up-beat tone. It may be trite to say that this could be the only book someone needs to get their job search fully revved up and maximize their career potential, but it probably is. If not for yourself, get this book for someone you love--a spouse, graduate, friend or colleague.
