3.0 out of 5 stars It was okay
The plot was way to odvious to me. I think that is because I have read way to many fear street books and know that the murderer is not who they make it look like it is. That is why it is to odvios. Thanks for reading! :)

This book is about a girl named Emily who's father died, so her mother decides re-marry. Emily, her mother and her sister Nancy live in the same house. Her stepfather, her step sister Jessie and her step brother moves in, Emily has to share her room with Jessie, at first Jessie is kind of mean to Emily, when Jessie gets to Emily's room she takes Emily's Teddy Bear and rips the head off of it after that bad things start happening to Emily. Someone puts peroxide in Emily's shampoo and her hair gets dyed green, someone stabs Emily's dog with a knife and leaves him in the middle of the kitchen floor, someone erases Emily's whole book report that she worked on for weeks, someone sets the school bathroom on fire and locks Emily inside, Emily is scared that it might be Jessie who is trying to kill her when she finds Jessie's diary one night and reads that Jessie might have commited a murder....this book has a surprise twist and a sad ending to it. This is the best Fear Street book R.L. Stine has written.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT BOOK, July 9, 2005
A Kid's Review
My review

this is my favorite book i've ever read.i'd recomend it to any 1 who likes reading horror books.it wasn't really scary but it was interesting n exciting.the ending is a total surprise.its definately worth reading.i literally couldn't put it down.i'm not even kidding.i bought the book at the bookstore.it was worth every cent. All of stine's fearstreet books are good.

Emily's new stepsister(Jessie) takes over Emily's room, steals her clothes, also lies to everyone.Emily tries to get along with her,but she doesn't trust Jessie.Emily is terrified of her.She learns a horrible secret from Jessies diary.Has Jessie acually killed?emily must expose Jessie before its too late.

I hope my review was helpful. Also i hope it wasn't boring.

4.0 out of 5 stars Natasha's Review, November 17, 2005
A Kid's Review
I liked the book because it had a surprise ending. It was kind of boring at the beginning but once something bad happened it started to get interesting.

The book Stepsister was about a high school girl named Emily, her sister Nancy, and her stepsister named Jessie. One day when Jessie was taking a nice calm bath, Emily starts to read Jessie's diary. The entry she read was something that she thought that Jessie did was true. The whole time Jessie was living with them some bad things happened, for example, when Emily got home from a dance she found her dog dead. Then the next day she finds her dogs dead body in her backpack. But at the end something happens that you wouldn't expect.

I think this book will be good for anyone older than 10 because little kids they would probably think it was scary. Another reason is that there are words that little kids wouldn't understand.

5.0 out of 5 stars WHAT AN INCREDIBLE BOOK!!!, May 2, 2006
A Kid's Review
In this book "The Stepsister", you will read horrible things that will keep you reading for hours. Maybe even days! Usually when I start to read a book, I never finish it. But this book, once I started to read it... I could not stop reading it! In this book Emily Casey is the main character and her mom is getting married to her soon to be step dad. He and his two kids, Jesse and Rich are moving in with Emily and her family. They soon move in and not even two days later, weird things begin to happen to Emily. Changes... So far her and Jesse have not gotten along so far at all. Jesse for no reason is doing all these evil things to Emily!! Emily just knows it's her! Jesse puts peroxide in her shampoo to change her hair color, she tries to steal her boyfriend, and thats not all! Death taking things happen! If you want to find out what happens, then you should read this book. If you like twisted, evil, back-stabbing books... Well then what are you waiting for! Read this book! I did.

5.0 out of 5 stars "When Jessie moved into Emily's room, the terror began.....", January 1, 2003
This was my absolute favorite fear street book! when i went to Barnes and Noble for a couple fear street books, i was so interested when i saw this book i knew i had to read it. this book only took me one hour to read. it was soooooooooo suspensful! I couldn't put it down. everything about the book is suspesnful; the cover, the back summary, everything!
This is what it is about:
Emily is excited when her new stepsister moves in. jessie seems nice and cool until the terror begins. it starts off with Jessie
ripping the head of a teddy bear off. then Emily's report is arased completly off the computer. But then a murder happens...... Emily has to stop Jessie before she does some thing really bad and evil!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Book, July 26, 2009
Emily and her sister Nancy live with their mother. Their dad had died, so their mom's new husband and son and daughter move in. After they move in, horrible things are happening to Emily. It seems as if someone is trying to get her. Are these tricks or honest accidents? Will Emily ever find out who is doing these things to her? Will her perpetrator be put to justice?

This book is really good. R.L. Stine is an awesome author. R.L. Stine captures the youth and freezes it. I love the teen relationships and the teen fun times and just the teens' innocence that are in Fear Street books. Even though I couldn't stay a teen forever, I enjoy reading these teen books. Part of me is a kid inside that will never grow up.

Even though I only gave this book 4 stars, that is the exception, not the rule. I usually give R.L. Stine books 5 stars. This book was good, just not excellent. (I give good books 4 stars; I give excellent books 5 stars.) This book is worth reading, so don't be put off by it just because I only gave it 4 stars. R.L. Stine does have better books, such as "The Babysitter" (I - IV), "Hit and Run", "The Rich Girl", "Cat", "Halloween Party". But again, this book is good. I just didn't quite feel the coziness and warmth in this one that I normally feel in a Fear Street book.

Recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Meagan's Review, February 2, 2005
A Kid's Review
Yes I did like this book because I have read other R L Stine books, but they where Goosebumps books and have really liked them because I really like mystery books.

The book is about Emily and her family. Her mom tells her that she is going to be getting two new stepsisters. One is called Jessie and the other is called Nancy. Once they are at her house strange things start happening. Somebody killed Tiger, Emily's dog, while she was at a dance. Somebody killed Jollie and somebody put peroxide in Emily's favorite shampoo. When the family goes camping and Emily, Jessie and Nancy go looking for firewood, Nancy gets separated and Emily tries to get away from Jessie and she ends up in the old grave yard. When Nancy puts the shovel in the rabbit's grave the shovel lands on Emily's arm and her arm is broken. Why has someone been trying to hurt Emily?

I recommend this book to anyone.
