About the Author

Arshad Ahsanuddin is a practicing hematopathologist, a physician who diagnoses diseases of blood, bone marrow, and lymph nodes using laboratory data and microscopic evaluation of tissue biopsies. Yes, he's a blood doctor writing a series of vampire novels. The irony isn't lost on him.

Arshad has authored four full-length novels and a novella as part of the Pact Arcanum Saga: Sunset (Pact Arcanum: Book One); Sunrise (Pact Arcanum: Book Two); Moonlight (Pact Arcanum: Book Three); Starlight (Pact Arcanum: Book Four); and Cathedral of the Sky (Pact Arcanum 1.5).

He has also written two short non-fiction works: First Words: 13 Short Essays on Writing from a Neophyte Author's Perspective and Stepwise: eBook and Print-on-Demand Formatting using Word 2010

If you have questions about the Pact Arcanum saga, check out his website at pactarcanum.com and leave him some feedback.

More About the Author

By profession, I am a hematopathologist, a laboratory physician who specializes in diagnosis of diseases of blood, bone marrow, and lymph nodes, such as leukemia and lymphoma.

The Interscission Project is space opera/time travel/gay romance. My previous works are part of an unrelated paranormal romance series, the Pact Arcanum Saga, which consists of five books: Sunset, Cathedral of the Sky, Sunrise, Moonlight, and Starlight. It is best described as non-explicit, near-future gay vampire space opera. Yes, I realize the irony that I am a blood doctor who writes about vampires. ;)

Note: While each series conforms to standard conventions regarding the romance genre overall, I do not guarantee an HEA or HFN ending to any individual book within the series.

Visit my website PactArcanum.com, for more information about my work.

I was lucky enough to get a preview of this wonderful little guide in its infancy, and it has helped me so much. Mind you, there are guides for DIY ebook formatting all over the web, but often they seem to suppose the following: (1) you have at least some HTML skills. (2) You don't have to be guided step-by-step, you just need a breezy overview. (3) You don't use Word. I can't tell you how many other guides I tried to follow, step by step, only to still end up with weird indents, inexplicable blank pages, etc. And when I asked for help, the answer was, "Oh, you shouldn't use Word. Or a PC." Not exactly helpful.

So with this guide, if you actually use Word on a PC, you can follow the steps and format your own book. And reformat it every time you catch a typo, decide to alter the back matter, etc.

If you want a formatting guide from someone who knows what they are talking about, this is the one. It's written so clearly with steps and how to's that anyone can follow it. I've used MS Word for years and still need a helping hand sorting out how to use Styles, how to create my own Styles, how to get rid of Styles I won't ever use (without actually deleting them!). This guide explains clearly and concisely exactly how to manage the formatting merry-go-round. A must have for authors!
