Fresh and fun POP music with an obvious "60's" influence.,

This outstanding Powerpop trio has an uncanny knack for creating songs that are reminiscent of 60's POP, but fresh enough to not fall into the dreaded "retro" category. Fans of Powerpop and 60's influenced Rock should definitely give this one a try.
Not every track is a winner, but MOST are good to great! I would say that the only tracks that suffer are the few that stress a heavy R&B influence. Just as the early Beatles never quite pulled off 100% of their R&B tinged efforts, we find the "Marmalade Souls" in the same predicament. Tracks like "fall into the sky" and "famous" are perfect POP nuggets and lots of fun! Actually, you'll find that almost every track is downright fun! Just remember that the focus here is more on sweet POP melody and harmony than Rock "riffs". Basically, Powerpop with the emphasis on POP. Here's hoping that we continue to hear from the Marmalade Souls!!!! JM |
