I've tried the other dash kits and this one worked best for the 2001 Ford Focus (4 door, Zetec engine, stock Ford 6006 6CD/stereo). As the other reviewer mentioned, pickup the antenna converter and wire harness.

The dash kit was sturdy platic and comes with two face plates. I didn't use the face plates as the 3" DVD/stereo unit I installed fit perfectly. The stereo unit I installed was a Sumas SM-30BT (exact same model as the XoVision XO1915BT at Amazon.com or the DP DP301BL at Fry's Electronics).

The Main Bracket of the dash kit is designed for both the Ford Focus and the Mercury Cougar. To install in the Ford Focus though, you have to break off the two top tabs labeled "Cougar". If you look at the picture, the compartment is the bottom and you will see at the top those two big tabs, those are the cougar tabs you have to break off. I used a pair of wire cutters and cut each side as close to the base of the tab as possible (the instructions says to trim it to be flush with the score line) and then bent them up and down to break them off. They broke off pretty close to the score line for me so I didn't need to sand or anything.

You will insert your DIN sleeve from your new stereo into the main bracket and depress the DIN sleeve's metal tabs to hold it in place.

Installing in the Ford Focus dash was a little tricky but to save you some effort, heres what you do. I hooked up my wire harness first and ran it through the Main Brack opening. I then push the Main Bracket into the dash until it covers the opening completely but don't push all the way in. The trick is to push the top of the Main Bracket into the dash first until you hear a snap (this means the tabs at the top have locked in).

Purchased this item in conjunction with the wiring harness and antenna adapter kits (sold separately). At first glance it appears to be correct and should work effectively but as my piece came in a few extra pieces I'm not sure yet.
In general, the idea is that this slides into the dash opening and then you slide your stereo into the opening. Maybe the seller should put this in a box rather than an envelope because it has thin separation stems from the bottom to top of the unit that on mine were broken in transit (basic shipping was USPS).
Complete installation of a new stereo requires these additional items:
Stereo Wire Harness Ford Focus 00 01 02 03 04 (car radio wiring installation parts)
Stereo ANTENNA Harness Ford Focus 00 01 02 03 04 (car radio wiring installation parts)

it was kind of a pain in the butt to have to trim it, but it works and doesn't look horrible.

This product worked great for my 2002 Ford Focus. Had trim two tabs as described in the instructions, then it snapped right in.

Had the old stereo out and the new one in, 5 minutes. So simple it's ridiculous and the quality was not bad or the price

If I could give it zero stars I would. Absolutely would not fit in my wife's 2002 Ford Focus ZTE; the whole thing is too wide and will not fit in the slot. I had to end up taking a grinder to her car to get the thing to fit. DO NOT BUY for a 02 Focus ZTE!! You will be getting yourself into a lot of work and alteration to the car.
