5.0 out of 5 stars The rash on my leg gone in one day.
I am a nurse in a Boston hospital and so I am coming in contact with very difficult infections on a daily basis by the so called "super bugs". Those superbugs (MRSA, VRE, Streptococcus, etc.) are no longer responding to standard antibiotics so killing them is harder. One day at the end of my shift, I happened to notice a large flat angry looking rash on my lower leg...

3.0 out of 5 stars A little deceiving but overall ok
So a couple things here. First, this is NOT cream. This is actual honey, like you'd put on a biscuit. So you need to cover this with a band aid because it is STICKY as heck. Second, if you read the description carefully you'll notice that this honey comes from trees in Australia, not New Zealand. It is TESTED in New Zealand... I just returned to the States from New...

I am a nurse in a Boston hospital and so I am coming in contact with very difficult infections on a daily basis by the so called "super bugs". Those superbugs (MRSA, VRE, Streptococcus, etc.) are no longer responding to standard antibiotics so killing them is harder. One day at the end of my shift, I happened to notice a large flat angry looking rash on my lower leg. They call it a cellulitis. I immediately freaked out knowing it could be something that could spread quickly and need to be treated with antibiotics and sometimes hospitalization. I did NOT want to use antibiotics becuase of the side effects and overuse. I had some 20+ UMF sterile manaka honey on hand (everyone should have a tube available). I spread it all over the rash and then covered it with a telfa dressing to keep the honey in place then wrapped it with a kerlix gauze wrap to keep the telfa in place. 6 hours later the rash looked better. I showered, then reapplied the honey. By the next day the cellulitis was completely GONE! I am a true believer. For open wounds buy STERILE manaka honey with a strength of 18+ or 20+. Good luck. And of course... if the wound get's worse or fails to heal quickly or there is a foul smell or a fever, or if the wound is deep and complex and ugly.... SEE A DOCTOR! But you knew that anyway.

5.0 out of 5 stars Keeps me infection free!, March 15, 2010

This review is from: 100% Active 20+ Sterile Australian Manuka Honey Wound Management New Creamed Formula (Health and Beauty)
I have been using manuka honey for 5 months, and this product for 3 months. I chose it because it is in a tube and remains sterile. I use it on my medical wounds to promote healing and reduce scarring. Previously, while in the hospital, I had every hospital infection there is (including MRSA, VRE, etc). I have had my spleen removed as well, so I have a compromised immune system.

During the 5 months I have used manuka honey, although out of the hospital, I have remained infection free! I believe this product works wonders and would highly recommend it. I use it on a surgical abdominal wound and on the entry site for my hemodialysis catheter.

This product really works. I gave some to a friend for his shingles and it healed all of them. I put some on my dogs rash and it healed it. I think this product is great.

5.0 out of 5 stars RN gives thumbs up, June 29, 2010

This review is from: 100% Active 20+ Sterile Australian Manuka Honey Wound Management New Creamed Formula (Health and Beauty)
I am a hospital RN and have done a lot of reading about bacitracin and similar bacteriostatic creams/ ointments/ gels. I have read that they have the potential to impede the body's natural immunity and actually INCREASE the risk of resistant organisms while prolonging wound healing. I got this honey product for a personal post-surgical incision. Now let me be clear, I have not tried this on an open wound. I did follow my surgeon's prescription for bacitracin until the wound was not "fresh" anymore. So about 4 days after stitches out I started using this and noted my healing to seem to happen faster and the skin to approximate (bind together) more quickly. This was used on a wound that grew out gram negative rods and since use, redness surrounding incision site seems to have decreased also. It smells good too which is an unusual 'plus' for wound products.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works great on burns!, June 28, 2010

This review is from: 100% Active 20+ Sterile Australian Manuka Honey Wound Management New Creamed Formula (Health and Beauty)
Excellent product, fast service. It healed my 2nd and 3rd degree burns twice as fast as the silver sulfadiazine (silvadene rolls), they gave me at the Burn Center. I'm all about natural products but when it comes to my own health, I use triple the caution. Heard about the product but only tried it on a smaller area of my 2nd and 3rd degree burns first. And then, when the skin grew back rapidly and my wound closed completely, while the area with the silvadene rolls was still open, I was convinced this product actually works. I do want to mention that there is an intense tingling sensation when you first put on the honey, border line painful on an open burn where the nerves are still alive. But you quickly get used to it after a few days. You also would want to apply the honey on sterile non-adhesive pads to avoid sticking, which can be quite painful when changing bandages. All and all this product helped me avoid infection and skin graft surgery on rather large burns. Lastly, it has just been over a month since the incident and I don't know if there will be any permanent scaring at this point, but I will keep using this Australian Manuka Honey. It's a great discovery thanks to amazon.

The product worked great. In a little less than one month the MRSA infection was healed. I would recommend this product if conventional drugs are ineffective or you would like to become more holistic. The only drawback with this product is the need for multiple applications daily for the defeat of the infection. That part wasn't a problem just a nuisance. Overall the product is great and I will buy again in the future if needed.

5.0 out of 5 stars RN approved!, February 17, 2010

As another hospital RN, I stand by this product I just discovered. I have sensitive skin anyway, and I love to garden, roses of course. Every tiny nick, every scratch, turns into an ugly scar after a couple of weeks of babying them to heal. I have used all kinds of OTC wound creams, gels, etc.... I am always worried about any staph infection potential, especially MRSA. Frequent hand washing at work, along with the non-wash "foams" we use coming and going from every room, has raised havoc with my skin. I have used this Honey Wound gel on my hands and on my shoulder (rose trimming "accident", haha), with very impressive healing results. Another rose-trimming cut on a knuckle healed in just 3 days using this Honey Wound gel, after looking ugly enough that I considered seeing a doctor about it. I have shared it with a co-worker and passed on the word. This stuff seems to work great!

I suffer from adult acne and this is the BEST product I have ever used for it. Does not dry out my skin like benzoyl peroxide or salycic acid. It is a great facial mask leaving my skin as soft as a baby's.

My 89 year old father has had several skin wounds as a result of cancer and the chemotherapy treatments that were not responding well to the conventional salves and ointments prescribed by his Doctor. We asked the Dr. if we could try some honey instead. He was most agreeable and would have prescribed some himself but it wasn't available through his system. We have been using it for about a month and while the wounds are still there, they are looking quite a bit better. We are all quite pleased with the results and highly recommend this product.

It is refreshing to have an effective, non toxic remedy for wound care. The product arrived in three days and I have begun using it on my dog's infected wound. This is a good product to have in your first aid kit.
