About Birthstone Jewelry

citrine

November Birthstone: Citrine

Citrine is a golden yellow form of quartz, with a sunny hue that is naturally energizing and uplifting. November's birthstone is said to promote happiness and creativity and to nurture friendships.

History of Birthstones

Chances are you can name your birthstone, but have you ever wondered how certain stones came to be associated with particular months? Most gem scholars trace the tradition to the Old Testament story of Aaron, whose breastplate was decorated with twelve precious stones, one for each of the twelve tribes of Israel. Over time, these stones were linked with certain powers and tied to particular astrological signs, and later to calendar months.

There are many variations of birthstone lists, including Mystical birthstones, which originate from Tibet and date back over a thousand years, and Ayurvedic birthstones, associated with ancient Indian medicine and beliefs. Birthstones have also been tied to ancient Pagan religions, and even to the collective wisdom of the legendary lost city of Atlantis.

The Modern birthstone list, perhaps the most universally known, was released by the American National Association of Jewelers and officially adopted in 1912. Whether you embrace birthstone lore, or look upon it with a skeptical eye, there is an undeniable appeal to collecting a beautiful gemstone that is reputed to hold special power, meaning, and good fortune just for you.

3.0 out of 5 stars Sterling Silver Citrine Heart Ring, Size 6, August 10, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This would be a good gift for a young lady versus a woman, because it's a small stone and a simple ring without a lot of glamorous features.

The pros about this ring are:
(1) It comes in a size 6, which is great for females with fingers that are not the standard size of 7
(2) The price is right for the simplicity of the ring

The con about this ring is:
(1) You can barely see the stone when wearing it, because it is so small.

What can a person say - it is a nice, cheap, silver ring. For the price, it is a good product. If you have dreams of proposing with this ring then buyer beware lol.

3.0 out of 5 stars Small, Delicate, and Nice, January 21, 2012

It's a nice ring for the price. It is small ring. The band was thinner than I expected it would be. It's still very pretty just not very noticeable on my hand. The stone is duller than it appears in the picture. When I received it the setting of the stone was slightly off but I didn't return it cause I didn't want the hassle and it seems secure enough.

Overall I like the design and it is very pretty. Just be aware that it is not a statement piece. It is a small delicate ring that would probably be best suited for someone with a small hand who doesn't wear big rings on other fingers.
