2.0 out of 5 stars Not NEARLY as good as the beginning of the series...
Ok. This book is nice. But what happened here? The Thoroughbred Series started out fantastically. I couldn't wait for the next one to come out. But now, each book gets worse and worse. The Thoroughbred Series barely EVER talks about racing horses anymore; it's just Christina and jumping. And what happended to all the great characters? Samantha dissapeared, Heather,...

Her parents own a racing stable and her mother is a profecianal race horse jockey, but Christina doesn't want to race horses. She begged her mom to buy her Sterling a 4 year old racing mare. The first 2 weeks Christina has Sterling,Sterling is her dream horse, but after that sterling is becoming a nightmare. She's been running out on jumps or rushing them.Christina even broke her rist and lost her nerve to ride Sterling. With the event so close how can she train her horse. Everybody wants a girl name Cassidy Smith to ride Sterling. Christina finally allows her to ride Sterling. This is an exiting story for a horse lover! You have got to read it!

The Thoroughbred Series barely EVER talks about racing horses anymore; it's just Christina and jumping. And what happended to all the great characters? Samantha dissapeared, Heather, Mandy, Tor, and all those people. I haven't heard about Caroline or Rory for the LONGEST time. Cindy disapeared, and whatever happened to Brad and Lavinia? If anyone knows what happened to all the missing characters, please e-mail me. I really wish that these last few books were more like the first ones.

5.0 out of 5 stars this book was awsome, June 20, 2002
A Kid's Review
This book was great i was always intreasted in jumping than racing. I am glad that they made the part of the series about jumping and evanting ithink Christina is tottley cool. She has a great horses even touugh she is a bit spoiled. I think that it was dumb to traded Legacy for Sterling beacuse Sterling is a bit of a low class horse. I think the real brat was Cassidy and Dylan was dumb enough to look over Christina and invite Cassidy to join the team for the event before dong the math that Chritina would be able to ride. It was dumb of melanie to take Sterling over the Liverpool. With out talking to Christina and almost getting hurt. This was a awesome book

5.0 out of 5 stars If you like horseback riding, you'll like this book., September 27, 1998

Christina Reese falls and breaks her wrist. She is unable to ride her dapple gray thoroughbred mare,Sterling's Dream in the event. The beautiful, self-confident Cassidy Smith is picked to take Christina's place on the team. Christina is unhappy with Mona's choice because Cassidy claims Christina and her horse are quitters. Christina tries to find someone else to do the job.Her cousin Melanie offers to help, but she gets on the mare and the horse runs off. Reluctantly, Christina asks Cassidy to ride Sterling. Surprisingly, she says no,but Melanie convinces Cassidy how much it means to Christina. Cassidy exercises Sterling, and Christina rides in the event. I think this book has a good plot. I like the way the author describes the main character Christina. I am an equitation rider and just like Christina I love jumping and horses. My favorite kinds of horses are thoroughbreds. I have enjoyed reading all the books in the thoroughbred series, and hope they write more.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, but I liked the old ones better, May 28, 1998

I like the Thoroughbred books now, but I think that they where a LOT better with the old characters. Each time it was about new characters, I liked the old ones better, so I think that the current ones are good, but the old ones were better.

2.0 out of 5 stars What happened to racing?, June 13, 1999

I have one question: what happened to the racing? I like eventing but this book was all about racing and I mean the thrill and the speed of Thoroughbreds racing at top speed. What happened to that?

5.0 out of 5 stars What happened to Joanna?!?!, May 3, 1998
By A Customer
What happened to Joanna Campell?! First it was her. Then it was her and Karen Bently And now it's her and this other lady! They made the series with racing and now suddenly it's all jumping! An ocasional book on jumping is ok, but the seriesn is about RACING! Why'd Samantha, Max, Cindy, Tor, And all the other people have to go! They were Some of my favorite people. Why'd Wonder have to stop breeding, too?And Christina is such a brat! She traded Wonder's last foal! I didn't like the Townsends, but what happened to them? In my opinion, this series is going downhill. =(

2.0 out of 5 stars it was OKAY, but nothing more than that., May 5, 2007
like i said, this book was OKAY but even that is streching it. To give a short summary of it, this is what happened: christina is having alot of trouble with sterling. the horse keeps on refusing the jumps. there is this one girl named cassidy that is a very experienced rider(besides being pretty and friendly and generouse.)

christina doesnt like her from the start, especially becouse dylan, the boy christina has a major crush on, seems to like her and is a bit in amazed by her riding ability. so when christina hears cassidy talking to dylan and calling sterling a quitter, christina turns into an absolute brat. she keeps on having more and more trouble with sterling, and soon falls off and hurts her wrist. she cant ride sterling now and when her cousin melanie trys to ride her she falls off too. so now there is only one more person who is willing to ride sterling: cassidy. but christina seems to hate her and goes out of her way to ennoy cassidy and be an absolute brat. she feels jelouse of her and also feels like cassidy is trying to steel dylan. I wont give the ending away becouse that would spoil it--what i will say is that the ending is very predictable. if you are hard up for a read, get this book. if you are not, dont waste your time in getting it.
