About the Author
Andrew Antoniades is a Chartered Accountant and lifelong Steve McQueen fan and expert. He studied English Literature at Southampton University and edited Marshall Terrill's 2010 biography Steve McQueen: Life and Legend of a Hollywood Icon. He has collected Steve McQueen memorabilia for over a decade and his collection includes original vintage film posters and several items personally owned by McQueen.
Mike Siegel is a filmmaker, film historian and the director of more than a dozen documentaries on classic films and directors of the 1960s and 1970s. He is best known for his work regarding American director Sam Peckinpah including his acclaimed film Passion & Poetry – The Ballad of Sam Peckinpah and the accompanying book Passion & Poetry – Sam Peckinpah in Pictures. Over the years he has contributed to countless books and magazines, including the American film magazine Cinema Retro, and produced a number of special-edition DVDs. He started his historical film collection at the age of ten and now owns one of the leading archives in Germany.

Ah, just what I was waiting for - a book solely devoted to the making of Steve McQueen's films. But this just isn't a book; it's a monumental achievement. The authors do a spectacular job of balancing objective text (they don't gush and they don't pan) with more than 1,000 photos (many never seen before) and rare movie posters, stills and lobby cards from around the globe.
Lavishly illustrated and beautifully written, this one is a keeper. And I especially like the politically incorrect photo of McQueen smoking. What more could you ask for?

Steve McQueen:The Actor and His Films -- I think no one else has done as thorough a review of any star's films, let alone McQueen's, and the quality and quantity of the many images, many unseen, many fresh to at least the North American reader, raises the bar for future authors of this type of film book. A huge book, and gorgeous!

I got this book as a present for Christmas and it is superb! I could not believe how huge and long this book is!
It goes into so much detail, so many great pics and rare photos over about 500 pages. It covers so many facts and stories i had never heard before. I have long been a fan of McQueen and was impressed by how new and fresh the book was. It's great to finally see a full undertstanding and analysis of McQueen's acting development and technique.
