Human beings are a merger of body and soul, but the two don't die at the same rate; sometimes one outlives the other. When a soul outlives its body, we call it a ghost. We have no word for what happens when a body outlives its sould, but the Hebrew Qabalists did: qelipoth, meaning "husks of the dead." They're dangerous creatures, consumed by emptiness and hate. In pursuit of an unpredictable killer, police detective Eric Sharpe's life turns into a waking nightmare when he discovers that the Qelipoth not only exist, but are everywhere... and want him dead.

About the Author
Steven Grant is an American comic book writer best known for his 1985 Punisher limited series. He has worked for Marvel Comics, DC Comics, Dark Horse Comics, IDW Publishing, Boom Studios, among others. He also has written six of The Hardy Boys Casefiles novels for young adults under the pen name "Frank W. Dixon." For Avatar Press, he conceived of the action-horror title MORTAL SOULS.
