Just used these for the first time last night. I don't know how I ever cut up a chicken without poultry shears. These are a nice heavy set of shears- they feel very solidly constructed. If you cook chicken, buy these shears!

I am shocked at how useless these are! They feel solidly constructed as another reviewer mentioned and I am confident they will not fall apart but that is all I can say. Right out of the box they were ridiculously dull! I can not cut through raw chicken skin with them. When you make the cut the skin just pushes forward and does not cut more than the first centimeter or so. Second problem is ergonomics. THe handles are not comfortable in the least and apparently made for larger hands. I am on the larger side of average frame woman and when they are fully open (unless they are latched they are fully open!) it is difficult to get my hand around them. AND once I do and I go to squeze the handle with my hands covered in chicken juice they just slide down the handle rather than actually squeezing the blades closed. I have had them a few months and tried to use them about 10 times and each time they end up tossed in the sink in disgust! If I don't wash them right away (I admit I am never in a hurry to wash dishes) they leave rust in my sink and on the blades.I have used a pair of fiskars kitchen shears for about a decade and they were getting dull so I decided to just get a new pair and as dull as they are I have gone back to using them! Regardless of the quality of the blade I have learned that I like the type that work more like scissors with loops on the handle and don't spring open on their own. It is easier to keep a good grip on them and I have better control. If you do like this type of handle and spring open design I still can't recommend this pair because they are dull and rust and the handle shape is uncomfortable in your palm.

Get a Chinese Chef's cleaver instead,

I bought these to help me with my food and my dog's food too. Yes, it will cut through flesh that's not to thick or to tough, but so will most of my basic kitchen knifes. I am amazed at how badly these don't work. These shears are also not comfortable to hold.Save yourself some trouble and get a Chinese Chef's cleaver instead.
