Grade 4-7?This biography treads familiar ground. Readers will learn about Spielberg's early feelings of not belonging, and about the scars left by his parents' divorce. In addition to tracking the director's various projects from high school to the present, Meachum gives a good summary of the progressive path of a motion picture from concept to final cut. She mentions the formation of DreamWorks SKG and Spielberg's entrance into the restaurant business. Unfortunately, readers are not invited behind the successful facade. Great book---it really describes Steven's life well, including lots of little details, which makes it fun to read! Not like a textbook at all...at times I found myself just sitting and reading the book instead of using it as planned to help me write a report on Steven Spielberg. Again, a great book this is, defintely get it! Go Steven Spielberg!
