4.0 out of 5 stars A picaresque for our times, November 2, 2005
By
This review is from: Why Stevie Can't Date (Paperback)
The classic picaro (think Roderick Random) has uncertain origins that propel him into a series of humorous and often outlandish adventures that serve as commentary on his times. Robinson's wry take on his own life displays the keen eye and unerring ear for human foibles that mark him as a worthy heir to Tobias Smollett, with this signal difference: unlike Smollett, Robinson doesn't have a meanspirited bone in his body. This is a book that warms your heart as it tickles your funnybone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stevie will have more dates., April 9, 2006
This review is from: Why Stevie Can't Date (Paperback)
Stevie will have more dates. He's witty, urbane, and blessed with a wry and dry sense of humor. His everyman seventeen short chapter observations on life transcend the cliche and the hackneyed. Lighthearted, refreshing, WHY STEVIE CAN'T DATE is a must read inspiration for all of us who have ever wondered why we can't date, either.

Sage (California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Why Stevie Can't Date (Paperback)
Steve puts in print feelings that we have all felt and makes them humorous.
The blatant honesty is refreshing and enlightening. This is one of those books that you pick up and do not put down until you have reached the final page.

This book is well worth your time, your money. Your smiles and warm heart upon completing the reading will last as you remember various segments over and over.
