5.0 out of 5 stars HE WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN - 10/03/1954 - Forever, October 3, 2001
This review is from: Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Tree: Pride & Joy [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This video shows a lot of sides of Stevie's personality. He truly had a heart of gold. And yes, all the reviewers here agree he is a Master, one can tell that just by listening to him playing with eyes closed! But watching him it is immediately and definitely apparent.

These video clips are fantastic! I especially love "Love Struck Baby," (he's the boss-like there was ever any doubt!) "Cold Shot," (shows his sense of humor) "Couldn't Stand the Weather" is truly awesome (I love them "playing" in the storm and changing winds! The ending is perfect!) and "Change It." (The good ole west--ahhhh.) Honestly I love all of the videos but those stand out the most for me. The last song "Crossfire" he looks better than I believe I've ever seen.

I wish this was in DVD but if you are a fan, it is a must-own. I highly recommend it and promise if you care anything for Stevie and his awesome band you will enjoy it. Buy it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Several music videos and a live track from New Orleans, May 17, 2000
This review is from: Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Tree: Pride & Joy [VHS] (VHS Tape)
First up, I am an avowed SRV fan; this review can be considered somewhat biased. The VHS version is a compilation of music videos released during the 80's. The videos span the period from an early 80's "Pride and Joy" set in none other than Austin's Rome Inn club to the late 80's release of Crossfire. I particularly like Cold Shot and SRV's swampy rendition of Superstition; the video's story line is cool too. The real treat for me was the live MTV video taped aboard the riverboat President in New Orleans. SRV and Double Trouble treat the crowd to a marvelous rendition of Chester Burnett's I'm Leaving You (Commit a Crime). So, with this tape, you'll get a good look at SRV in his awesome, barn-burnin' 20's (Pride & Joy, Cold Shot), his drug and alchohol-plagued years (Change It...he looks like an old man), and during his amazing post-rehab period in the late 80's (New Orleans, Crossfire). All-in-all a good tribute to SRV and Double Trouble. And with SRV, how can you go wrong?

5.0 out of 5 stars Stevie played like he knew time was short., June 22, 2000
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Tree: Pride & Joy [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I had this video for about a year. I lent it to friend and never got it back, that is probably an indication of how good it is. As a blues guitarist myself, I only wish this video had more close-in camera work of Stevie's hands as he played. His technique was absolutely unbelievable. He used very heavy gauge strings which he pushed to the limit and his aggressive yet unfathomably accurate fingers are still without parallel today. Seeing all of his videos on one tape gives the viewer a true appreciate of the depth and breadth of this man's talent.

5.0 out of 5 stars Put A Smile On My Face, May 18, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Tree: Pride & Joy [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Pride and Joy is a compilation of vignettes spotlighting some of Stevie Ray Vaughan's longstanding best tunes. Each vignette has an individually different flavor from a storm-filled Couldn't Stand The Weather to pubs and clubs and other gig scenes. My favorite is the Cold Shot vignette; definitely put a smile on my face as it exemplifies Stevie-humor. What a guy. If you love Stevie-stuff, this has a different flavor and will add new materials and dimensions in the pursuit of SRV fanship.

This is the best VHS out their with a collection of music videos featuring Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble also Live Performences. I would rate this a 5 because this could not get any better the music videos are really cool this is a must have for an SRV fan. My favorite is Couldnt Stand The Weather when SRV is playing his custom hamilton guitar in a rain storm very cool! I also like the western side of Change It. This is such a cool movie I hope they can release this sometime on DVD it would be sweeter so enjoy!

This video compilation is great. It was a long time coming. SRV has been gone for, what, almost 12 years now? All the videos are here, Cold Shot, Superstition, Tightrope, Crossfire, and even a live one in New Orleans on a riverboat at the jazz festival. I only wish they would wake up and put this on DVD format. Doesn't it deserve to be?

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Music And Fun To Watch, April 30, 2009

This review is from: Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Tree: Pride & Joy [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Here are eight videos from songs Stevie Ray Vaughan and his group did earlier in the 1980s. It's always a pleasure to hear SRV play his guitar so every song has something to offer. Most of them in this small collection are fast numbers and fun to hear. They are also short numbers so the whole video is only a little over a half-hour in length.

In addition, some of the videos are very humorous, particularly the first couple. There are some scenes you laugh out loud. So....if you want 36 minutes of up-tempo rock-blues with some fun videos, this a great tape.

I see now that this is available now on DVD with bonus songs. Wow, I'll have to order it! (Better late than never.)
