Great music but several tab errors,
By
This review is from: Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble - The Sky Is Crying [Recorded Versions Guitar] (Paperback)
Hal Leonard make awesome tab books - it's not like they had much competition anyway... I'm a big SRV fan and this book was very helpful in nailing down some of the faster tracks, like Wham.
However, there's a lot of errors in this book that would've been caught had anyone just taken a final read at it. In Wham, some notes are written for the 24th fret (!) while it is obviously an 8va error and the notes should be played on the 12th fret. Some of the position shifts also don't make much sense, especially considering SRV's very fluid and efficient style. In summary, I'm glad I bought this book but wish Hal Leonard had done a better job at proof reading the final material.

Total guitar explosion,
By Jeffrey Marroquin (Downey, CA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble - The Sky Is Crying [Recorded Versions Guitar] (Paperback)
For pros, books like these are not truly needed, but for people still on the path of learning, this is a great book to have. You can learn to play along with Stevie, if your fingers are fast enough, but it is definately a good learning experience. I am having an adventure trying to get all these songs down, but then again I am a devoted SRV fan.

A blues lesson in each measure!,
By Sammy Hota "Sammy" (Madison, WI United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble - The Sky Is Crying [Recorded Versions Guitar] (Paperback)
This is an excellent book. In every measure there is a whole blues guitar lesson. Stevie is most certainly one of the greatest blues guitarist of all time. Learning the riffs in this book should help any aspiring guitarist to get a good hold of the blues genre.
