5.0 out of 5 stars Thank me later!!!!!!
Walking through a "record" store years ago, I heard a kick-a$$ instrumental followed by an awesome blues tune. I just stood in the aisles and listened to the whole recording, then bought it and rushed home! One of his best, if not THE best. Sadly taken from us just as he was hitting his prime...<sigh>

1.0 out of 5 stars He is trying to look humble with that acoustic
On the cover, Vaughan's kneeling with his nice acoustic, trying to create a humble apearance. He does not want people to percieve him as they percieve his music -- loud blues\rock. He doesn't play an acoustic. I've never heard him play one at least. Though, this album was made as he was moving over to a more jazzy style. Just before his death, he was trying to evade...

5.0 out of 5 stars probably his best album, January 12, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Stevie Ray Vaughan/In Step (Audio CD)
A very listenable-to blues album indeed... a bouncy opening track (House is Rockin') followed by several prime cuts of blues - Tightrope, Crossfire, Leave my girl alone, and Wall of denial are my favourites, great guitar, flowing rhythm, and some exuberant flourishes.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of his best, January 5, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Stevie Ray Vaughan/In Step (Audio CD)
This was Stevie's first album after getting out of detox and many of the songs portray his inner struggle with life and with himself. But aside from all that, the album rocks out. This was the only other album (aside from The Sky is Cryin') that I burned the tape out from listening to it too much. Every song on the album is well done; not only does he sing with soul and play with energy, but his lyrics are well written and thought provoking. A must have for anyone.

it is hard to imagine that the next album would have been bettter, but one never knows. a tour de force of virtuoso guitar playing and heart-felt but up-beat lyrics.

5.0 out of 5 stars UNMATCHED GUITAR MASTER AT HIS FINEST., December 2, 1998

This review is from: Stevie Ray Vaughan/In Step (Audio CD)
The last studio album recorded and released before the death of SRV. A uniqe and original collection of blues-based rock. It is plain, to all who have ANY musical taste whatsoever, that this man was the best. "In Step" is a finely polished blues masterpiece. A MUST HAVE for all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Carrying on in the finest tradition, August 31, 1998

I remember seeing a Johnnie Lee Hooker interview where he was asked about the new generation of "blues" players... Hooker shook his head and said "none of 'em got it...(and then he paused thoughtfully)... 'cept Stevie Ray... Stevie Ray's got it." I think that really sums up this album... Stevie Ray's got it. I think it was his first album out of rehab and it's just incredible. His playing is so fluid... just wonderful phraseology... not a bad or wasted note on the album ("album?" Ha, I guess that dates me)... get this one, sit back, and enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Legacy, August 23, 1998

A mature SRV rips through his songs with his usual guitar wizzardy (travis Walk) but this time he includes lyricks (Wall of Denial), tones(Riviera Paradise) and colour to his songs that show a man looking ahead to a new 'sound' while paying homage to all thoose that came before him. He left us too soon and this album is a tease as to what the man would have brought us as he 'reinvented' his sound.

5.0 out of 5 stars Prolific playing in the evolution of a true blues great., August 21, 1998
This review is from: Stevie Ray Vaughan/In Step (Audio CD)
Personally Texas Flood is my favorite album by this guy, but In Step is a close, respectable second. The guitar sounds a little more processed on this one but Stevie's style bleeds right through. Heavy influences of Albert King and Jimi Hendrix contrasts Stevie's Texas Twang/Rockabilly approach producing a sound that would captivate even the most fickle blues snob. This guy was just born with the "touch", a must for any C.D. collection.

This is SRV's best album. Tightrope, Crossfire, Wall of Denial... - what more could a guitar fan want! On top of that, one of the greatest guitar instrumentals - Riviera Paradise If you don't have this CD in your collection, get it right now!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A great CD, July 13, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Stevie Ray Vaughan/In Step (Audio CD)
This CD really rocks! Every song will get you going. From the feel good mood of the first song "If The House is a Rockin" to the end with "Riviera Paradise" not a single low moment. SRV was a voice that was silenced way before his time. Now almost 8 years after that tragic Sunday August night, he is still missed.
