Best overall Stevia Product we tried,

We tried 4 different Stevia products to see which we would like the best. We compared the taste, any aftertaste, how fast it dissolved in cold liquids, specifically mint tea, and cost. We tried Stevia Supreme, Truvia, Sweetleaf, and Spring Valley.
Stevia Supreme came out the best. It dissolved reasonably quickly, had a good taste, little or no aftertaste, seems to be one of the best for having the least added ingredients, and it is a very good price from Amazon. Truvia was our 2nd choice. It was best for quickly dissolving in cold liquids, and also had a good taste, but we had 2 problems with it. My husband thought it had a slight aftertaste (I didn't notice it) and the label lists "natural ingredients" which could be anything. Also, it was a bit more expensive than the Stevia Supreme at our local supermarket but not a lot (and a lot less than I am seeing it today on Amazon!). Third is Sweetleaf. It has a sweet flavor and very little if any aftertaste, but it is so very mild that it doesn't make the drink as sweet as the others. If you use too much to try to get the sweetness, it will taste bitter. It takes a longer time to dissolve and it is also more expensive than the Stevia Supreme. Fourth, and not recommended at all, is the Spring Valley Stevia. I got it at Walmart for the lowest price of all the Stevia products, but it has a very strong aftertaste in my opinion and after trying it for a few days, I threw the rest away. I've used other Spring Valley products and been happy with them, but this was clearly inferior. Spring Valley was the only one that I did throw away because all the others were overall satisfactory, but the Stevia Supreme was the best in our opinion.

Natural, No warning labels!,
By FOX (USA) - See all my reviews Unlike Aspartame (Equal/NutraSweet) or Sucralose (Splenda) or Acesulfame-K or any of the other dangerous chemicals that have been put in just about every food and drink nowadays, even GUM and vitamins, STEVIA is the natural extract of a sweet leaf. Stevia has been used for THOUSANDS of years without ANY bad health or side effects. Until just recently, Japan had a LAW that no artificial sweetener could be used in ANY food or drink! When you bought a DIET COKE in Japan, it used to have STEVIA in it! Unfortunately, now they too have been forced to put Aspartame in their soft drinks. Stevia not only is safe for diabetics, but is actually GOOD for diabetics and helps diabetes! It does not promote tooth decay, and even though the FDA admits it is safe enough for it to be on store shelves, they will only allow it so long as Stevia does NOT say it is a sweetener, the US law says Stevia has to be called a "nutritional supplement" to satisfy the big money corperations that make Aspartame and Sucralose that pay good money to make sure the FDA does not allow any competition! I was researching this for many years when trying to find a sugar substitute for my diabetic family member. I myself don't like the taste of Stevia because it has too much a taste of licorice, and I don't want everything I sweeten to taste like licorice. Other than that, this would be perfect and solve all sugar free problems. So far, I have found nothing that is as good as sugar, and sugar is all I use, but for people that come over that want sugar free sweeteners, all I offer in my home is Stevia. Not Equal, Not Sacharin. You will never see any WARNING labels on Stevia as you do on all the other "sweeteners" that the FDA approves!!

Several members in my family suffer from diabetes and this product has been a welcome gift for us - it does not taste like sugar, but the taste is similar .. CAUTION! DO NOT USE TOO MUCH because it is extremely sweet - for me one packet equals the sweeteness of 3 packets of sugar , and also if you put too much it will taste bitter. Stevia has been used for centuries in S. America as a traditional medicine for diabetics, and also I like the Stevita Supreme because is is blended with xylitol which has several health benefits such as prevention of tooth caries, prevention of the weakening of bones ( osteoporosis), prevention of ear and nose infections and helps control Candida yeast infections.

I have had good results with stevia packets in the past. They are great for sweetening drinks such as hot chocolate or lemonade and I've use them to boost sweetness in muffin recipes, cakes etc. to good effect.
Just got this box of Stevita Supreme and I like the taste just fine, don't know why some people think it's bitter. Maybe a genetic difference in the taste buds? It does have a cloying aftertaste but because this is basically just sweet, what's the big deal? The big deal for me is finding out from the box that per one gram packet, 45 mg is stevia and the only other ingredient is xylitol. If my math is correct that makes 45 mg stevia and 955 mg xylitol. Fifty grams in the box times .995 = 47.75 g xylitol which you're buying for about three bucks. Xylitol is good for you and all that, but price-wise here you're paying three dollars for about a tenth of a pound of xylitol (plus a little stevia) whereas you can buy a whole pound of plain xylitol for around nine dollars.

By far the best stevia that I've ever used. Fantastic clean taste that works well in so many recipes as well as just sweetening coffee and drinks. If you're eating some fruit that's not quite ripe, sprinkle a little of this on it!!!

Best Stevia product I've tried so far, but still not for everything...,

This is the best Stevia product I've tried so far (much superior to the Sun Crystals, which had a much more bitter aftertaste, in my opinion). I really, really want to like Stevia. There are apparently no health risks, it's much sweeter than sugar, all natural (just Stevia and xylitol from the birch tree) and in the case of Stevita Supreme, it's much cheaper than Splenda or Equal (at least on Amazon). The problem is that, with some beverages, the bitter stevia aftertaste still comes through. I can't really taste it when I'm using it to sweeten punch or sprinkle it on fruit, but in coffee and tea it's definitely there. It's not so bad that it makes in undrinkable, but it's certainly something that you should be aware of before purchasing it. Then again, all artificial sweeteners seem to have an aftertaste, and I prefer Stevia's herbal bitterness (when detectable) to aspartame's artificial tang. For the price, Stevita Supreme is worth a shot. It might not be your cup of tea, but this is a worthwhile sweetener and the best Stevia product that I've used to date.
