About the Author

Kirk Nowery is President of INJOY Stewardship Services, headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. Prior to joining ISS in 1997, Kirk served for 18 years as Senior Pastor of one of the nation's largest congregations in Miami, Florida. During his tenure at the church he was also Chairman of Dade Christian School, an acclaimed institution with an enrollment of over 2,000 students. And, from 1983 to 1995, he was Chaplain of the famed Miami Dolphins football team. In his strategic role with ISS, Kirk's primary objective is to assist pastors and church leaders and enhance their effectiveness in ministry. Kirk is co-author of The 33 Laws of Stewardship, a book now being used in thousands of churches nationwide. Kirk and his wife, Denise, are the parents of three grown children.

I purchased this book along with "The 33 Laws of Stewardsahip" in an attempt to gain a deeper understanding of Stewardship and my enduring responsibilities to life. I loved "The 33 Laws of Stewardsahip" and really enjoyed this book, almost as a completer or unifier of the topic of Stewardship.

The 7 chapters relate to Stewardship in the context of your life, including;

The Stewardship of Influence
The Stewardship of Committment
The Stewardship of Time
The Stewardship of Opportunity
The Stewardship of Resources [including money], and
The Stewardship of You

While the basis of the book is Christian Doctrine, which it is steeped heavily in, it still remains a wonderful resource for Christians and non-Christians alike, as we each have a rich life awaiting us. When you look to the responsibilities of life in the way of Stewardship... you make the most of all you are and what you have... and that is a life well lived.

I wasn't sure what to expect when I got Kirk Nowery's book "The Stewardship of Life: Making the Most of All That You Have and All That You Are." I was looking to read something about stewardship that went beyond the money perspective, and saw a used copy here at Amazon. I'm very glad I did. The Stewardship of Life looks at a number of vital aspects of our life; it really expanded my view of what biblical stewardship entails.

Nowery does an outstanding job of sharing insights and biblical principles on the many aspects of stewardship. Every opportunity that comes our way, every person in our sphere of influence, every hour we have, all our resources, our very lives - these are all gifts from God and we have the choice to make the most of all these, or to squander them. Much more than just abstract princples, Nowery shares several amazing stories and examples. What I didn't know was that Kirk Nowery is a colleague and friend of John Maxwell. He has also served as president of INJOY Stewardship Services, a company which has partnered with thousands of churches to raise more than two billion dollars for ministry projects. (But wait, there's more! He was also the chaplain of the Miami Dolphins, COO of Samaritan's Purse, and co-author of 33 Laws of Stewardship :)

I can highly recommend Stewardship of Life, not only for some great information, but because it's an inspirational book encouraging us to make the most of what we've been entrusted with as followers of Christ. It's not a new book, but one well worth checking out.
