A basic guide for using the stick for sport play., July 26, 2009
This review is from: Stick-Fighting: Sport Forms (Paperback)
I have to admit that I did not like this book as much as his first stick fighting book. This book does cover the basic use of the stick when used as a fencing tool, but without actual hands on instruction, it could be difficult to practice with safety. Staff fighting techniques are also covered in this text. Using the stick as a sword, as done in kendo practice, is also explained. As someone who has had formal kendo training I was familiar with these techniques, but without the guidance of a kendo instructor, it could be dangerous to practice these techniques. In conclusion, this book is best used in conjunction with actual training under an instructor.
