Sweet F.A. were a killer band. Had a great sound. Late 80's, early90's, hard rock, with a danceable groove. If they would have come out a little sooner they would have went farther. "Breaking the Law", "Prince of the City", "Whisky River", and "Women" were striaght out rockers. Along with the power ballad "Stick to Your Guns"and the more southern rock/metal feel of "Souther Comfort". "Daily Grind", is a must for the strip clubs. Not a bad song on this CD from start to finish.

Their second CD, "Temptation" was killer too. But a little bluesier. An all around great sounding band. Too bad they upset a few people in the biz while starting out. They got a bad rep. with some of the bands that have talked about them in the past.

STYG completely smokes from start to fin. These guys made a habit of blowing other bands off the stage and unlike most of their peers could back it up live'.This is one heckuva record! No frills,No BS HARD ROCK w/a sleaze edge. While alot of the other bands of the time were miming each other, spending a fortune on aqua net etc (list too long to mention),this band was paying their dues. The good ol' INDY days:
Sweet F.A.,Schoolboy Crush,Ma Kelly,Wanted etc.the Indy scene was ripe w/ plenty of a-s kickers.STYG has aged well and is a time capsule and testimonial to this absolutely underrated, underappreciated and real deal hard rock act.Blue collar, kick a-s and taking names----GREAT BAND & ALBUM! BTW,Steve D. Delong was/is one of the best fronters to ever come out of the midwest period.

this group i thought was really good i liked n listened to every song on stick to your guns and could really relate to which i thought the song itself stick to your guns would be every southerners national anthem & should be including mine. it was very direct in your face southern rock & so was daily grind a real farmers giggalo delight dont know when your grinding corn and fantasizing about drilling a stripper great songwriting on this album the song whiskey river another great creation while floating down the river with a girl you are doin while she got a rich old man she wont marry a classic been there done that awesome, the song heart of gold is a great slower southern power ballad that is really good too. the album temptation was a different more heavy album which i liked but there were a song or 2 that wasnt quite enjoyable like vices & ta killya sunrise a little wild but o.k. but all in all good but grunge was locking in tight new musical directions were taking place, alice in chains the first song i heard on the radio man in the box , soundgarden, nirvana and so on i got caught up in it so did everybody else and i guess thats why they never really made it big but i still like them....if you are a big southern rock lover and like a little grit, i suggest you add this c.d. to your library. the south will rise again.. yee haw!!!

I was expecting another hair metal band when I burned this to CD from cassette. I've had this thing lying in a box for twenty years and finally burned it. I've listened to it several times and right away found it to be a lot better than what I vaguely remembered from way back when.

They are more of a hard rock band with a hair metal influence thanks to the drum sound, the singer's pitch and of course, their liner photos. However, the songs are what sets them apart. They have a bit of variety and some decent surprises that keep things interesting. Instead of generic rockers fit for mass consumption (I just used that term in another review tonight), there is variety with some hard rocking followed by bluesy interludes followed by interesting time signature and harmony changes.

There was enough variety and likable music to keep me listening. Recommended.
